Dear Esteemed Board Members,

I have trawled through the advise for some days now but can't figure this out for myself, so I'm hoping someone can give me a direct answer.

I have a Phillips LCD HD TV that has a scart and DVI-I input. I want to connect a Wii and DVD to said TV.

Currently, the Wii (using a component cable and adaptor) uses the DVI-I input, but the (cheapy Goodmans) DVD connects via scart. All is good apart from the DVD picture.

Now, I wish to get a better DVD player in order to improve the DVD picture but firstly, do I go for a DVD player that upscales and, secondly, how do I connect it to the TV? I figure this should also go into the DVI-I socket, but how if the Wii is already using it?

I suspect I need to connect both the DVD and Wii to an HDMI switch, but not sure what cables, switch and adaptors I would need, especially as DVI-I doesn't carry audio (Wii sound currently takes the audio part of components cable and goes into the TV's DVI-I audio in).

Any advice would be gratefully received as I am rapidly losing hair over this one.

Make sure your DVD is connected via RGB SCART, and NOT composite, it should be just as good as an upscaling DVD player via HDMI - depending on how good your TV's upscaler is.

In any case, it WILL be better than the TV's internal Freeview pictures, as DVD is less compressed.

If it's poor, then it's almost certainly not RGB - composite on an LCD or Plasma does look poor, they show the defects up more.
