HD connection to v+ box
Hi,
have just bought a Sony KDL-32S3020 hd ready tv and i have a very simple (or so i thought) connecting plan. Have a dvd which is scart from dvd to tv which is fine and then hdmi cable from v+ to tv which doesnt seem to want to work. Tv has 3 HDMI inputs and cable doesn't work in any. Looking at the tv manual for what is supported through each of those slots it doesn't mention input from decoder(which i assume to be the v+ box), it mentions blu ray, game, audio system etc. Does this mean I have to have a hd compliant dvd to connect into the v+ box and then into the tv or am i just doing something totally dumb.... any ideas??? cheers Paul |

I think there's a setting on the V+ box where you select HDMI or Scart output...you have to select one or the other, I don't think it can output both at the same time.

Yes, the V+ box is really badly designed, you can only use one or the other, not both.

thanks guys,
not sure what you mean by v+ not using both scart and hd at the same time thought. 1- have dvd connected by scart direct to tv and works fine 2. can connect v+ to tv by scart and works fine 3. when i take scart lead away and connect v+ to tv by HDMI cable i get nothing from any of the three hdmi inputs. 4. looking at my instruction manual only the scart inputs on AV1 and AV2 say they accept input from decoder (assuming V+ box hence why it works fine via scart) the hdmi inputs in the manual do not mention decoder connections just audio system, game, dvd |

HDMI inputs on your TV will work with any device with an HDMI output and has nothing to do with decoders etc.
You need to go into the setup menu on your V+ box and select HDMI output. |

thats fine to say that but if there is no input via the hdmi lead then there is no screen to adjust the selection to hdmi input.
If i adjust it whilst it is connected via scart then it doesn't recognise it |

Whilst connected via Scart, change the V+ display setting to HDMI and click OK, then quickly switch the TV to the appropriate HDMI input - HDMI doesn't auto switch like Scart - and confirm your choice with the V+ remote "text" button. Don't press text unless you do see the picture via HDMI however.
Then enjoy your V+ box. Once correctly set to HDMI you can change between 720 and 1080 to see which works better for you. regards Brian |
