Nearly had a £7,000 bill from 3
What a shower 3 are. I recently received a Nokia 6120 and Last Thursday signed up to the 1Gb data plan to use the phone as a modem to my laptop. I agreed they would activate on Saturday, that being the same day of the month as my voice account runs from. Concerned that I had only had verbal conversations, yesterday (Sunday) I called them again to confirm I had a data plan and that I could also use the data for normal phone internet stuff as well as a modem, to be told yes.
So, this morning I do a bit of browsing for a couple of minutes, cannot have used much more than a megabyte, to be hit with a text message saying I had used £9 worth of internet services, (I believe their ad-hoc charge is £7 per Mb). Called 3 to be told I have not signed up for a data plan, there is only a record of me having made an enquiry. From previous experience of 3 CS I can't face attempting to get the £9 refunded, life's too short. The only saving grace is the fact they sent me a text message. Had I carried on blissfully unaware and used my Gb, my bill would have been £7,000. |

Our e220 seems fine. I thought 3's ad-hoc charges were £2 per Mb? 4.5mb for a bit of browsing seems quite hefty.
Anyway, having been stung by several COMPANIES (Not just mobile phone providers) I NEVER take 'verbal agreements' for granted - something about them not being worth the paper they're printed on... ![]() I always log on to my ebilling and check the tariff from there. For example, I press the 'My 3' Button on my handset and check what is active or isn't. I'm glad you've managed to avoid running up a bill, mind. |
