Anyone recommend a good restuarant in Brighton/Hove for a meal either late lunch, early dinner?

Prefer to have a range of food with some good vegi options?

Thanks

The Latin in The Lanes is a really good Italian restaurant, just off the seafront in the South Lanes. The have a fairly large menu and their fish and seafood dishes are great.

Another good one which has just sprung to mind is Due South - Brighton Beach Restaurant

Specialises in organic produce and has plenty of veggie choices

Did you? I'm surprised because it's often mentioned in food magazines such as Olive and was recently featured on a regional programme about locally sourced food but hey you live and learn

Damn! I was going to recommend English's but it's a fish restaurant! There's a very good Italian near English's (can't remember the name but it's on two floors) and they have a very extensive menu.

Donatella or Al Duomo I think they're both in the lanes

yeah i was surprised too... i ate in there when it first opened. the meal was great. the 2nd time, the service was bad and 2 meals came out cold. And reading the reviews on Brighton Eating - it seems to be really hit and miss now

Terre a Terre in Brighton is wonderful, even for non vegetarians. The food is so good you won't care about the absence of steak.

Pinxto on Western Road has a fantastic restaurant upstairs with a very decadent cocktail bar. Does meat and vegetarian. Pricey though, but worth it for the experience. Get Tobias to make you a cocktail. He is a genius.

Brighton is a bit 'now you see it, now it's shut' kind of place. Very transient and very hit and miss!

My sons are still missing Cactus Canteen since it closed its doors a couple of years ago and re-invented itself as a Prezzo

Donatello's could be the italian someone mentionned.
It's a nice italian, pizzas and pastas but more meat as well.
Plus quite a bit of veggie.

The same management owns Pinocchio's - another Italian near the theatre - with the same menu.

I agree with Terre a Terre, a fantastic restaurant with very arty but wholesome food. One of my favourites in Brighton by far.

I never liked Cactus Canteen although can see the appeal for families. The food tasted very processed and/or microwaved. I'm a great fan of Mexican food too. The Prezzo that replaced it has moved to the Marina (coincidentally replacing another Mexican, Chimi Changa!), not sure what is there now instead though.
