Sony firmware update
I have a Sony rdr-hxd870. I see on Sony's web site that there is a firmware update to correct a timer record problem. however, when I try to download it ,all I get is an error message, so I can't access the server. Has anyone been able to do this? Sony say that all is well and the link works ok at their end. I have tried three different computers on different isps but they all give the same result.

Works here. Try using a different browser if you haven't done so already. The file is located on an FTP server and that may be the source of the problem. If it still doesn't work I will upload it somewhere for you if want.
I assume this is the page you visited: http://support.sony-europe.com/hav/d...ders&f=FW_DVDR |

re sony firmware update
Hi, thanks for your comment. I have tried on Firefox and explorer 7 with the same result. Also I turned off my firewall (zonealarm) No difference. at the moment I am waiting for Sony to tell me they have emailed the file. Fingers crossed. I would appreciate you uploading the file if you can. Where would you put it so I can access it?

I came here to look for others who have the Sony RDR-HDX870 & are having problems!
Mine are: disappearing timer programmes - I use EPG; If it's a one-off programme, I turn off the epg. erratic dubbing onto both DVD-R/RW. It seems to work if I do one programme at a time on hi-speed. I only use Sony or Philips dvds. I was interested to see that there is a firmware available but the complications involved in downloading & putting it onto a cd, terrify me! The Sony web-site is very user-UNfriendly (IMO) & I cannot find out if Sony send the firmware by post. There must surely be others, like me, who are afraid of damaging their machines but are fed-up with a machine that cost nearly £300, not working satisfactorily. A friend who bought the same machine about the same time as me, is having similar problems but her techno knowledge is worse that mine!! We'd be so grateful for some help! |
