If anyone could help me with this, I'd be VERY VERY appreciative as this is bugging the hell out of me.

I recently bought an LG 42LF66 42" LCD television set - very good HD picture, nice telly all round.

The only thing is that it doesn't autoswitch between 4:3 and 16:9 TV pictures. Every other widescreen TV I've had has done it but I can't figure out the way to make this one do it.

My Sky HD box picture setting is "Automatic".

Thanks in advance if anyone can help me.

Assuming you're watching via HDMI?, it doesn't switch, HDMI is designed as widescreen only.

I am - the HDMI is the only connection between the Sky box and the TV.

The set-up on my previous television was identical but it seemed to switch fine between 4:3 and 16:9.

I am completely puzzled, unless, of course, my new telly does not have this functionality.

Most don't.

That's strange, then.

Out of all the widescreen TVs I've had since 1999, this will be the first one not to be able to deal with/recognise widescreen/4:3 flags.

My last two "big tellies", a 50" rear-projection and 42" plasmas, both linked into the Sky HD box via the HDMI socket, had no problem at all knowing what to do.

not got a problem with my LG tv with 4.3 or 16.9 switching, everything is set on 16.9 so what every I pick it shows in 16.9
as I said in another post, my annoying thing is it does not auto switch when say you turn sky/xbox/dvd on, you have to press the input button and select which input you want

I have the LGLY95 LG which is a newer version of the LF used via HDMI. It switches 16:9 to 4:3 as all my other LCDs have.

BBC local news reports switch to 14:9 and older shows as shown on DAVE channel view in 4:3 automatically. I have to physically switch it to go to 16:9.

Doesn't answer your question but it seems strange.
