Got an expensive jacket, bought a hundred miles away so can't just pop back to the shop, and the zip is stuck in the zipped-up position.

Tried pulling it with pliers but it won't budge.

Any ideas?

Can you see what it's stuck on? For example, is one of the little things bent so it can't get past it? Or is there something stuck in the zipper like a bit of the fabric?

Have you looked at the back/inside? Is something caught in there? Or has it jumped a tooth? You may have to move it further up in order to get it back down.

If ^^ are checked and discounted sometimes rubbing an HB lead up and down the teeth helps loosen stuck zips.

Perrhaps the "slider" part of the zip has been damaged or squashed and you might end up breaking it totally if you pull at it with pliers. You could try to lever the slider apart slightly with a flat srewdriver to see if it will work. If it appears to look normal then try a teeny bit of WD40, maybe on a cotton bud so as not to get it all over your jacket.

If none of the teeth or mechanism are bent try rubbing a bit of soap on the teeth inside and outside of the zip where it's stuck.

I have a skirt with a zip stuck right up, I have rubbed the zip with a pencil and it just won't budge. I don't wanna pull it in case I ruin the skirt but I be as well cause I am not able to wear it with the zip stuck right up.

Plain white candle (not beeswax) rubbed on to teeth.

A drop of oil...any thing veg oil for cooking...... 3 in 1 mulit purpose stuff anything really...but just a drop or you'll stain the jacket! Then grab the zip with your fingers wrapped in kitchen roll or tissue for grip and wiggle the damn thing free!
