i have aquired an orange spv, the first model they had, so theres no e100 or other numbers/letter, its just an spv, anyway to get to the point, i put in an orange sim card and it works fine but the phone is asking for a device unlocking code, this isnt the code to unlock the phone to all networks btw, i think that the phone is blocked

does anyone know how i can get a code for this to work

I think you mean the PUK Code?

You can ring Customer Services they will be able to provide it to you. PAYG is 450 and PAYM is 150.

Seeing as you can't use the phone, try the 07973 100 150 or 07973 100 450 versions from another phone.

Where did you get the phone? Maybe it's IMEI has been blocked due to it being reported lost/stolen. Not sure on how that would display on the handset as I have never had one in my possession that has been.

my neighbour gave it to me as it was her daughters who has now left home, i think it was previously on a contract, but now it wont do anything

This is the security lock. The user sets this so that if someone else picks up the phone (regardless of which SIM card is present) they can't use it.
The default code is in the manual, but if your neighbour has changed it you will have to ask her what it is.

If she can't remember then you should contact technical support at Orange. But don't use words like unlock or blocked as they have a specific meaning which will cause confusion (as it did here).

Incidentally, if a phone has been reported lost or stolen and it has been blocked, then generally there will be no message on-screen about this. You just won't be able to make or receive calls, even though the phone may appear to have a signal.
