Hi folks, I need your help again with a connection please.

I currently have a tv with 2 scarts, fta sat-box with 2 scarts and dvdr/vcr combo with 2 scarts. A digital aerial runs through them all.

I'm now going to buy a dvdr with built-in freeview to replace the dvdr/vcr combo.

So 3 questions really.
1. Is it a straight swap out of the current dvdr for the new one?
2. The aerial currently comes into the fta sat-box, is it ok to stay there?
3. The dvdr/freeview Im buying has an hdmi connection as does my tv. Is that just a straightforward hdmi cable to link the 2 or do I still connect them via scart as well?

Thanks for reading and any thoughts.
Cheers.

Aerial to DVDR Aerial in.
DVDR RF Out to TV Aerial in.
Satt TV Out to DVDR AV2 in.
Satt VCR Out to TV AV1
DVDR HDMI to TV.
You don't need to connect the aerial to the Satt STB unless you use the RF out to another TV in a Kitchen or bedroom.
When HDMI is used you do not connect by scart at the same time.
You haven't stated the make/model no of Satt or DVDR but if you have the option set the Satt TV scart and DVDR AV Input to RGB.

If the DVDR still works ok then I'd keep it and by a PVR as a supplement. This will be cheaper and functionally much better.

Thanks John, yes the sat box goes to another room so would like to keep it like that. So the only real change would be the hdmi lead instead of scart from the dvdr to the tv?

Bobcar I know what you're saying but I'm struggling to connect 3 things let alone 4

If someone who struggles with the technical side then a PVR rather than a Freeview DVDR is much the better choice because of the ease of use (it's better for almost anyone just more so in your case). You only have to connect it once (and you will get good advice on here anyway) but you will use it every day.
