I know that DOI will never mention them, but they did really well in the Europeans, and their short programme was great to watch.

I just wish they could be given some publicity in the main vehicle for figure skating

I saw them on Eurosport at the Europeans. I hope they're invited to DOI to do a guest performance in time for the World Championships.

Hopefully we won't have to rely on Eurosport for coverage of the World Championships as the BBC are planning to show it as well!

i tink we should all get behind them . They are great people, really down to earth who have worked extremly hard to get where theyare. My daughter used to skate in competion with sinead when she was a free skater, and beat her to be Scottish Champion. We know the sacrifices we made for our girl, and john and sineads family, will have done the same. Best wishes to you both.

This is a *bump* but it would be nice if they were invited to DOI at some stage! If nothing but to get people to watch them in the championships

Maybe I'm going to have to run for cover but sorry, really don't care for their routines. I know the whole system of scoring etc has changed but watching the recent European Championships, the French and the Russians looked graceful and balletic. The Kerrs are too avant garde I think to win a medal at the moment, also their costumes are terrible and the lifts not pretty in the least.

Understand I'm not disputing they're good. But they're just not my cup of tea.

I don't think they can until after they have stopped competing - the ISU have banned skaters and i think judges from these kinda show from doing any skating/judging at 'actual' skating competitions. I'm not completely up on it but i think that is the case.

I would imagine the Kerrs would be too busy training for the championships to find time to do guest appearances, especially (as far as I know) they now live and train in the US.

Yes the show probably doesn't really fit in with their training but still, the UK's top ice-dancers appearing wouldn't be a bad idea or any country's for that matter.

Strictly Come Dancing has plenty of "champion" guests from around the world. Mind you, the ballet dancers with high heels on was odd to watch.

I don't really like competative ice dance in general anymore. It all seems too technique-over-creativity to me. But I still support them!

I'm glad this thread is still bubbling along. I just think it would be nice if the retired couples (T&T, B&S) could mention them from time to time to show aspiring skaters that there's more to life than ice shows (even if that's how they make their money now).

I thought I'd resurect an old thread rather than a new one to congratulate the Kerrs on getting a bronze in the Europeans.

Will it get a mention on DOI? We'll see, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

They nailed their free program which was full of difficulty. Very well done to them, I bet they thought they were never going to medal.

Robin Cousins is usually at the Europeans so you never know but then DOI has as much to do with championship skating as crazy golf has to the US Masters.

Start celebrating John and Sinead have won the bronze- and were just a point off snatching silver

Congratulations to them

Wasn't it great to see them skate so well and finally get onto the podium....its a pity we didn't get to see them receive their medal though

Good luck to Jenna for tomorrow!

They were brilliant, first European win for Brits since Jayne and Chris, I believe. They might do us proud for the Olympics too, if they're entering it? I don't know how the selection process works, I just watch it.

Is it Robin - I thought it was Nicky? Never mind, I agree with you; love the Kerrs. Last year Nicky (or maybe Robin?) said that to get any higher they needed to push themselves further as they were playing too safe.. This year I think they pushed and it paid off. Good for them.

DOI is 2 cmpship skating what crazy golf is 2 US Masters!!!!! GReat - couldn't have put it better!! Room for all types though.

I think you're right. Robin Cousins usually commentates for the BBC but the last couple of years it's been from the studio in London (good for the carbon footprint ) and Nicky Slater sometimes commentates for Eurosport but I don't know if he did this year as I watched the championships on live streaming from a Slovakian sports channel.

The Kerrs benefited from the top French pair being injured and from couples retiring from last year but that happens every year and they've never before taken advantage so this is a big improvement and certainly will give them great confidence.
