Mobile phone question
I have a Pay as You Go Orange mobile. Every so often I get a text message from Orange saying "SIM Update". I haven't a clue what it means. Can someone tell me please?

I don't really know why you'd be getting them frequently - usually you get them when the phone is SIM is registered and ready for activation OR if you change your tariff etc.
Contact customer support or check the website unless someone else has the answers. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

i get that on my t mobile contract. AFAIK its something to do with the handset not reading the sim correctly (tell me if i'm wrong) a simple power cycle should resolve it. You could also remove the battery and sim, and give the sim a wipe clean along with the sim contacts on the mobile.
Failing that, pop into an orange store for them to have a look at it. |

It usually means orange is sending some sort of update to your phone.. just give them a call and ask them what they are.. I just delete and then forget about them

They are just minor updates, it could be a change to the SIM message centre, to the list of preferred networks, to the SIM services items, to voicemail etc etc.
Its nothing to do with the SIM not being read properly, neither is it due to a fault with the phone. Just turn the phone on and off to complete the update. If you don't the network will send the update again after a while. |
