I tend to favour the pirate way of doing things!! as they get on with your requests and play what you want instead of putting it off or ignoring you. You get an essence of what the community wants and if you are a producer (like me) then you can send off your demos to them and they'll play em!!

Commercial radio 4 me is repetative, boring and has no orginality as they play the same old tunes over and over!! i dont know how many times ive wanted to throttle the radio at work when Whingehouse, Hoosiers or that blimmin "How to save a life" track comes on.

Anyways thats my view on things what about everyone else?

I used to listen to Live 365 on the internet which had a lot of good free radio stations. I listened to it because commerical radio drained my will to live by having the news and ads every fifteen minutes and playing the same 10 top 40 songs on loop.

However, when I went to check out Live 365 again after a long break from using the site, I unhappily discovered that my favourite stations were now asking for a fee before you could listen to them. I was rather gutted.

Right now, I don't listen to any radio whatsoever.

For music radio I tend to listen to my MP3 player through an FM I-Trip transmitter these days. No tunes I don't like or annoying dee jays prattling away about Celebrity Love Island on Ice or whatever.

Any fans of electronic music (I'm into my progressive house, mainly Shiloh, Luke Chable, Way Out West etc) should most definately get your ears around Proton Radio, available online. Not exactly pirate but certainly independant

Real Radio Scotland is good, I'll admit they play most of the usual chart stuff. However their requests are usually played there and then, not having to wait for it to be played.

Usually I listen to Robin Galloway (& Kat Harvey) in the mornings and then Steve McKenna in the evenings.

I must admit I like Capital in the morning on the way to work, but prefer the pirate stations in the evenings when I'm off out.

The Croydon area's not short of a few pirates, but I mainly go for Origin (Also streamed on the net):-

both radio stations are good. although commercial radio tends to get a little repetitive, although it does alert me to songs i would not usually listen to. pirate stations are good cos they play new stuff and introduces u to decent tracks that you might not ever hear on commercial radio, until they become huge!
