Hi,

I am using a Grandstream 2000 with Sipgate. All settings are correct as verified by Sipgate but on the odd occassion calls go straight to voicemail rather than the handset ringing.

Furthermore the MWI is a bit hit and miss. Is this just me or are any other Sipgate users having similar issues.

Can anybody recommend another voip provider that offers a free local number and voicemail with mwi like sipgate but actually working?

Whenever I've had problems with voip services going straight to voicemail it's usually been a router, port mapping problems or whe competing with p2p traffic (if downloading at the time). I don't have a problem with sipgate going straight to voicemail but this problem can often occur not matter what voip provider you choose. You can check you broadband connection for voip suitability:

I have a 20meg cable connection with a Belkin router. The voip phone is connected via ethernet and is in the router DMZ so port problems should not be an issue.

I am truely baffled.

I've seen quite a few instances of calls not being accepted by IP phones behind belkin routers - it seems the belkin routers sometimes prevent the traffic getting through correctly.

I work for a UK VoIP supplier, drop me a PM if you wish - you can get an account setup and i can have a look at a SIP trace to see if i can work out what's going on.

Chances are it's a problem at sipgates end, i had that problem nearly 2 years ago. Took them three weeks to admit it was a problem at their end and it took them a further four months to correct! They had to install more servers to cope with demand!!

I did not wait, i took my custome else where.

I know what you mean. I also got equpment from them which was faulty, had to ship it back to Germany at my expense and then its taken two weeks to initiate the refund.

Now with Orbtalk and dont have the same issues, just miss the MWI feature that Orbtalk doesnt support.
