Anyone buying it?

Anyone care to even see them together?

I for one find it painfully awkward to watch, as the two share zero screen chemistry.

The shameless manipulation of these two characters week after week into lame-ass positions where they end up breathing down each others necks and sharing lingering glances is utterly moronic.

I don't wish to see it. I don't buy it. Its simply some lame-ass attempt at ringing some milage out of Captain Sylvia Young's supposed rampant sexual ambiguity.

Arses to that, I say. QUIT IT!

Erm, I agree, but much less strongly. I don't get it, but I'm not as angry about it!

LOL..totally..we cant reali do anything about to influence the writers..if they think it will work we'll just have to trust them, i kinda like it tho..lets just see what happens...

I dont mind it myself, but i suppose that is the wonder of Personal opinon...I dont buy into the Jack Ianto thing, i dont know why I just feel they are trying to force it in.

again personal opinon

the jack and ianto is more beliveable imo
Gareths acting (or maybe he actually does fancy JB! i duno!) shows the character is smitten
and then Gwen n Jack have no chemistry other than leader and other.

my opinion =]

The Tosh/Owen thing is more believeable and that seemed a bit forced to being with.

I also don't buy the Jack/Gwen bit and John Barrowman seems at his worst acting wise when he tries to play that relationship out.

I'm not totally convinced by Ianto turning from a (presumably) faithful boyfriend/lover to Lisa to the extent of risking his life and everybody else's to get her back to casting loving eyes over his boss a short time later. Unless Jack using force to make him finish off Lisa turned him on or something.
Having said that, there is zero chemistry between Jack and Gwen and it makes me cringe every time she goes all doe-eyed at him. She needs to make her mind up what she wants and if she really wants Rhys to leave Jack alone.

I don't think it works - it feels shoehorned in, much more so than the Ianto/Jack relationship, which I find more believable. It feels like the writers think they need to have sexual tension between the lead male and female characters, when it fact it just seems awkward and unsettling. I also think it makes it much harder to like Gwen - she comes across as selfish and heartless, especially when we're shown how much Rhys loves her. It doesn't reflect well on Jack either - I have no problem with Jack flirting with and/or sleeping with everyone and anyone, but it did seem that he wanted to try to have a relationship with Ianto, and after all that has happened between Gwen and Rhys, he should respect that relationship.

The sexual tension thing doesn't work mainly because neither side seem to be that interested. The furtive looks etc are very staged, rather than just coming up during the plot, that plus JB isn't very good at acting it. Gwen's role is increasingly annoying me, and her sanctimonious speech at the end of wednesdays one topped it off. I just Ianto to say something biting and sarcastic to deflate her.

I am rooting more for Ianto and Jack because I think over time Gwen would bore him, especially with her constant speeches about everyone has love in them and all is right in the world...but he did look rather sad when he had to let her go home to Rhys so he didn't lose her completely But I think she's more of a conquest that he can't seem to get at the moment, and he's getting a bit bored of Ianto because he so willingly forgives him for everything.

I think that's actually proof of a serious flaw in Torchwood in terms of characterisation. Maybe Jack IS bored with Ianto, but we don't know that because we're not shown it. So much has to be guessed at. I'm not saying things need to be spelled out, but it's frustrating not to know how characters are really feeling or how they actually relate to each other. You can make a case for Jack being in love with Ianto, or being in love with Gwen, or being in love with both, or not actually being that bothered with either, but nothing is really becoming any clearer.

Maybe Jack just likes to get as much as he can?!!

I have to admit, I'm as confused as you guys! I can't figure out what the writers are up to with Jack. Unless it's supposed to be a Jack/Ianto/Gwen triangle.
It just doesn't play right, as it is at the moment.
Very odd!

And that comment to Gwen about eating the alien meat and how he seemed to enjoy it... I know it was a joke but makes me think, yeah, he'll get bored of Gwen, he needs something different.

I don't think Jack really does monogamy and I think he could be in love with two people at the same time, or even more than two. You could probably make a case that he was simultaneously in love with both the Doctor and Rose; so he could love both Gwen and Ianto. I don't think he's the kind of person who'd settle down with just one person - and that's not even a possibility for him, because like the Doctor, he can't spend the rest of his life with one person.

I want: Tosh with Owen, Jack with Ianto, and Gwen with rhys. thats the most believable but i don't mind if along the way they have a bit of fun swapping

Well, I love Jack and Gwen! I certainly think there's chemistry there and I see Ianto as Jack's little sex kitten - not a serious romance. I know, I know. On this forum I'm in the minority, but do I care? Uhuh!!

I personally don't see much in the way of chemistry between the pair, and to be honest, don't really buy into matey it is suggested they are. Perhaps, in the first series, Gwen was somewhat in awe of Jack (and Torchwood and it's dealings in general) but now she's more acclimatised to things (and for some reason has risen to second in command status) any of what I saw initially between them has diminished.

To be fair, I think any hints of an attraction between the two has little to do with some deep, burning desire on Gwen's part, and more to do her defence of the domestic life she lives. It seems she's out to prove she's quite happy with Rhys and her rather mundane life on the side, regardless of how Jack, and the other members of the team, seem to believe such a thing impossible and incampatible with their work.

It's utter crap, had they done something with it in series 1 it would be more believable now. But here it's just forced and means nothing.
