I'd buy it if there was any on screen chemistry between Eve Myles and John Barrowman. Any at all. But there's none. Less than none, actually.

Jack and Ianto, however...my telly screen starts smoking!

I think it's the most awkward ship I've ever seen, they have zero romantic chemistry.

Jack pouting away at Gwen makes me giggle more than anything.

Jack pouting and being all macho does not work.

The beauty of Jack's personality comes alive in Dr Who but in TW he's just stuffy! We want him to smile! C'mon Jack! Smiling is sexy!

Maybe we believe in Ianto and Jack more than Gwen and Jack because Ianto/Jack are having a bit of fun this season rather than the heaving bosoms of Gwen?

Jack would not have asked Ianto on a date if Gwen had not gotten engaged. Coffee Boy's the consolation prize with Gwen/Rhys and Jack/Ianto, mere stepping stones to Jack/Gwen.

Torchwood is not as groundbreaking as it pretends, more's the pity.

I still can't see why when in the past Jack could literally pick and choose from anyone in the galaxy (or more) he'd bother with someone as dramatic and as much of a pain as Gwen, especially when she's spoken for and he's been encouraging her to keep her life outside work to keep her 'human'. Not entirely sure why he bothers with Ianto either (if he does). The only reason I can see this series for him being 'needy' - asking for dates, giving Gwen long serious looks - is that he's emotionally all over the place since getting back from the Valiant and possibly just facing up to his decision to stay here for good - or for ever in his case. Especially as he spent a year in agony worrying about his team and they seem to have got on fine without him. Unresolved issues, methinks.

Seriously, though, I've noticed markers for this all the way through from S1, ep1. I don't know - maybe it's just too subjective to analyse effectively. For instance, I've never noticed any chemistry between Jack and Ianto. I find it a bit cringeworthy and forced, to be honest. Maybe we're all just seeing what we want to see!

Jack killed Ianto's girlfriend and now all of a sudden their lovers and there was no build up either. That's another crap romance. Jack showed Gwen how to shoot in the first series and it was one of the few, or only, flirty moments they had. Shortly after that she was with Owen.

The markers weren't laid down clearly enough in the first series now this just comes across like bollocks to me. Very badly plotted.

I would buy it but John Barrowman is really unconvincing - I actually giggled at him when he had a strop and watched Gwen and Rhys on the camera - it was so rubbishly acted. I'm giving it time though, maybe it will improve. I feel sorry for Ianto though he deserves better. Ianto is pwning every other character at the moment, he is a legend.

We already know that Gwen will have sex with someone else (Owen) and not just once, several times despite living with Rhys. It does seem like she can't make up her mind what she wants, and when she gets the soulful look from Jack then turns round and shouts at him that Rhys mustn't be retconned because he was so brave and he loves her, you do wonder whether the poor bloke (Rhys) deserves anything like this is his life. If Jack pursues this he's a mug too.
