Tina Turner is fantastic. What happened to her? That lady has one powerful voice and thighs that follow
Private Dancer and Nutbush City Limits are also my favorites.

When Was PD Released?

1984-1985, early eighties I'm sure.
Have you ever watched 'The Tina Turner Story'? She had a hard life with 'Ike'. I recommend you watch it and you will love and appreciate 'Tina' more.
It was made in 1993 called 'What's love got to do with it?' 'Angela Bassett' plays 'Tina'.

That was an excellent album, and I'm sure Mark Knopfler wrote that particular track.

Love the album, love Tina. Private Dancer, the song, is amazing and the full length version is great - I love the 'Deutsch Marks and Dollars, American Express will do nicely thank you' line.

Her wikipedia page suggests a new album may be in the offing.

Anyone watch family guy? I wish I was a lieutenant in the army so I could insult my privates with "private dancer for money"

Whether you love it or hate it, there is no denying that "Private dancer" and the album of the same name are a defining sound of the 1980s.

I sit on the fence insofar as the song itself - I'll admit it is one of the best vocal performances by Tina and the song is far superior to a heck of a lot of stuff that is in the current charts. I've even caught myself singing it a few times.

One thing you can say about the album is that most people like at least one track off it. Personally I still love "what's love got to do with it," despite the fact I've probably heard it about a million times and seen the video in excess of 1,000 times.

I also really adore her covers of "let's stay together" and "I can't stand the rain," which are such different takes on previous versions - also on the Private dancer album I believe.
