Tried or Want To

Some people are adventurous when it comes to cooking or eating food. So what unusual things have you tried or is there something that you think you would be willing to try?

Some of my personal favourites are swordfish, wild grouse and sashimi (Raw Fish)/sushi.

I will pretty much give anything a try if it were offered to me. A lot of things I wouldn't cook for myself in everyday circumstances but if I were somewhere (like when I went to Egypt for my cousins wedding and stayed with the grooms family who cooked us lots of traditional foods) and was offered something it would have to be something really gross for me to turn it down.

i can't actually think of examples of the top of my head though.

Not that unusual I guess but I've eaten rabbit a lot in Italy as it's widely available there and when cooked well is pretty tasty It doesn't seem to be as widely available in the UK. Have never cooked it myself though...

Oh God, I know it's Wrong but I love foie gras.

Snails are... ok, I suppose. It's just a delivery system for garlic butter though isn't it?

I've had dolphin (not the mammal!), haggis, erm... can't think of anything else right now.

The only thing I really can't get my head round is sushi. It's raw fish, people! Raw Fish!! You can't eat that! *blurtle*

Sashimi is fantastic. Have some lambs hearts in the fridge for tomorrow, which I know is not to everyone's taste. Love foie gras.

Can't do pigs trotters or any kind of tongue. Don't think I could eat chicken feet either.

My dad, bless him, died 4 years ago aged 79 and he had never eaten any foreign muck (as he called it) Indian, Chinese, Italian he had never had a burger or kebab. He had a meat, veg and gravy dinner nearly everyday. If he had a takeaway it was rock and chips and if he went to a restaurant it was always steak, mushrooms and potatoes.

Sushi is not raw fish, Sashimi is Raw Fish. I used to confuse the two as well, but I have been to many japanese places now that I learned the difference. Its why I made the distinction (perhaps not clearly) in my OP.

Not built myself up yet to the likes of Trotters or chickens feet. Haggis is so good, and not just for Burns night either. Oysters, Languistines and pretty much any shell fish are on my menu.

It Tuscania, Italy, I once had lasagne made with tortoise meat - lovely - although we weren't told until afterwards what it was!
