My Humax 9200 auto switches to DVD when I turn on the DVD player which is fine. Unfortunately if a scheduled recording comes on during DVD playback I lose the audio until I toggle the button again. Is this normal behaviour for the Humax?

Is this the normal behaviour for the Humax? YES.

Is this the correct behaviour? NO.

I gave up using SCART pass-through on the Hummy, and I now use a "Trilogy 1" SCART switcher which both auto-switches in response to devices powering up, and has a remote control to override the automatic device selection.

This bug has been there for so long that it's best to now regard it as normal, unavoidable, and not something that will get fixed.

Great.

Is there any kind of workaround that I'm unaware of? e.g. does it do it in both standby and powered states?

My work-around has been to use an external SCART switch. It's actually a 4x2 SCART matrix switch and it's rather nice!

I find since 1.06 that the source button no longer works, to pass through another source I have to set a recording running and go into standby. I noticed the other day that when a subsequent recording starts that the sound disappears and I have to toggle it out and back into standby to get the sound back.

I'm a bit bemused as the scart passthrough and the Source button seem to work fine for me except for:

A brief dropout in the sound when a scheduled recording starts

and

Low volume on occasions.

Am I just lucky?

So how do you use it? If I turn on the DVD player it auto switches to DVD. If subsequently a scheduled recording kicks in I lose the audio.

My box is 2 years old is yours the newer revision?

Is the SCART passthrough passing sound through the RCA connecters when in standby and not recording?

I've noticed the sound drop outs appear to be random, not at all related to recordings - bloody annoying though!

I seem to be able to go to DVD via the source button and it also will switch automatically when a new DVD is inserted.

I have the new TBX version if that makes any difference.

I've not noticed any permanent audio dropouts - only temporary ones (glitches).

I've never tried watching a DVD when the Humax has been in standby though. It's always on during waking hours.

Maybe the times when the sound disappears is when the Hummy is switched to 'mute'. This does affect the sound on the SCART passthru, for some reason.

When an upstream device first switches on, it overrides this and so sound will then be heard. If the Hummy starts a new 'event' like starting a recording, playing back another one or being switched to another channel, an 'event' is generated, and the Hummy takes control over the sound output of the SCART again depending on the 'mute' setting.

I have had my 9200T for a couple of years, passing through a Philips DVD Recorder (formerly a DVDR-610 and more recently a DVDR-5550), and from there to my TV (formerly via SCART to a 1997 Philips CRT model, and latterly via HDMI to an LG 37" LCD model) and have never had any problems, and have never had the need for external SCART switching.
