Rescan lost my recording schedule
John_W

Last night I rescanned the box to pick up CITV - which seems to have moved - and lost all my scheduled recordings!

I didn't do a reset to defaults, but I did delete all existing channels before rescanning. I've never noticed this happen before - is it new? It's a real pain because we had loads of things on series link and now that's all been lost.

Thinking about it, I suppose it makes sense in that the box must have lost the link between schedule and channel when I deleted the channels. Should I not have deleted the channels first? I seem to remember reading that was a good idea.

This is normal and is not new.

You generally do need to delete channels before a re-scan otherwise vacated channels will be left in the Humax, best to re-scan with a clean sheet. Having said that, if you know which channels have moved/changed/re-allocated then just deleting and re-scanning for those channels should work ok.

If you record a lot of CITV (as I do ) you might want to have a look at your channels again to see if CITV appears on a channel with a number greater than 800 AS WELL AS ITS NEW CHANNEL NUMBER and then delete it! If you don't it might cause recording problems...

ok, thanks. I'll try to be more specific re channels next time. Point is though, with series link it's much more of a pain to have to reset etc.

CITV has moved from mux 2 to mux A. However, the old channel is broadcasting a "please rescan" message.

Unfortunately, if you do an automatic scan, it will pick up the old version, and assign it to channel 75, before it finds the new channel, which gets assigned to 800.

The trick is to delete CITV from the channel list, and then do a manual scan of mux A only. To do this, you have to find what channel corresponds to mux A. This varies from transmitter to transmitter. You can find out here.

I wouldn't say that, just click one program from each series and job done. I make a note of my reservations before doing a re-scan, no problem.

Or never mind the transmitter or UHF channel.
If you know an existing Freeview channel on the required Mux (that would be Five for Mux A), simply selecting that before going to the manual tuning menu will set the correct UHF channel.
