Can anyone explain this issue I have encountered??

I have a BT vision box which I connected to my new LG 42LY95 1080P 42inch LCD by an old HDMI lead and it works fine.

The LG TV has 2 HDMI 1.3 compatible inputs.

However, I then connected a new Sony 1080P upscaling DVD player to the second TV input using a new HDMI 1.3 lead and got no picture at all with the TV displaying a no signal message.

I then swapped the cables round, so the old one went from the DVD to the TV and received a perfect picture. The new HDMI 1.3 was put in the BT vision box to the TV and again, got a great picture.

This has left me completely perplexed. I can only assume that the BT vision box has HDMI 1.3 capability and the DVD player has 1.2 or 1.1 but I thought the 1.3 is backward compatible?

Can anyone explain what has happened here or why the 1.3 cable works with one piece of kit and not the other? Any thoughts would help.

Cheers

Steve

No idea why the cable works with one and not the other, just run with it. The 1.3 thing is the biggest load of old cock I have ever heard, there is no such thing as a HDMI 1.3 cable. I've got a small truckload of HDMI 1.3 devices, I'm a custom installer, and they all will run on cheap unbranded HDMI cables.

My HDMI picture was prone to vanishing when I had the cable a little too tense, make sure it's in okay.

And if everything else fails try talking to it more nicely in future, it needs encouragement not criticism.

I bought it a kitten and a night out at a swanky restaurant but worked just as well as it did with my ex-wife! LOL!
