I was browsing the lost odyssey Original soundtrack on youtube and listened to two songs that were sung by her.

Apparantely, she is well known.

And the songs were very good too.

Very popular singer in the 80's and 90's.
She also sang the theme tune to the Bond movie, For Your Eyes Only.

Yep, Prince wrote some songs for her (usually under one of his millions of pseudonyms, though), and then she sang joint lead vocal on the first track of the "Sign Of The Times" album, U Got The Look. This was a pretty big hit, but I think it was credited just as "Prince" rather than "Prince ft Sheena Easton". Anyway, give it a listen ~ highly recommended

She sung a james bond song? That must mean she has something to her name.

I would not have expected her to sing for a video game if that is the case. She does have a nice voice.

Discovered by an Ester Rantzen show.

Still big in the early 80's and had several appearances on Miami vice. The last time I seen her on television she was being canned off stage.

You say 'discovered', but I'm not so sure now in hindsight.

The show was called 'The Big Time', and I suspect it was just an early version of 'Popstars' or 'The X Factor' and was merely a promotional tool used to promote people they had already chosen to become stars.

Mind you I'm looking back with 21st century experience of lots of TV shows since then. At the time I would just accept it at face value.
As far as I'm concerned Sheena Easton was probably already chosen by a record company to be their next big thing, and we see a televised story of the 'journey' which already had a script written for it. So I think the show was just used as a promotional vehicle for her.

There's a common perception that television was oh so innocent back then. But personally I doubt it.

I don't know if anybody remembers that show, but it was also the show which brought Anne Diamond to public recognition too.

Prince also wrote the raunchy "sugar walls" for her too.

I remember it and you may be right that she was already earmarked to become the 'next big thing'.

I don't remember Anne Diamond being on 'The Big Time' though - she was a local news presenter/reporter on ATV (the Midlands ITV franchise) from about 1978 before moving to the BBC in 1982 (where she didn't read the news she was promised she would be doing) and then being snapped up by TVam in June 1983 after the 'Famous Five' (including Anna Ford, Angela Rippon, Michael Parkinson and David Frost) failed to bring in the viewers.

When and what did 'The Big Time' do for Anne Diamond?

Fame apparently went to Sheena Easton's head and she became a bit of a diva making lots of enemies . . .

Indeed he did, in fact he fact he had a copy of '9 to 5' in his singles box that was the subject of a documentary on BBC shortly after he died. I remember his wife saying he played it every time he did a 'live' appearance at a club or whatever as he thought it was a perfect pop song.
