These choices are all really hard! There are only two songs I really like in this lot, and they're matched together! Aagh! (Rooms On Fire and Lovecats.)

Anyway, my winners are...

N-Trance "Set You Free"
Jaki Graham "Step Right Up"
Stevie Nicks "Rooms on Fire"
Frankie Goes to Hollywood "Two Tribes"
Big Fun "Can't Shake the Feeling"

(Funnily enough, the first song in each match-up...)

This one is a lot more easy for me. As you said we can talk about the tunes, I'll make a few comments as I'm bored, can't sleep and have nothing else to do.

1)KLF - America: What Time Is Love? (I much preferred the original version though.)

Have a white label 12" somewhere which starts off with the words "alright now, it's time to kick out the jams motherf*****" and I can remember Simon Mayo playing that version on the mystery years once and he got all embarrassed about it Absolute classic song though.

2)PM Dawn - Set adrift on memory bliss

What a song! Can't believe that it's seldom played on the radio anymore - it was such a big hit in summer 1991. So chilled out - I also liked their other hit "a watcher's point of view" and one called "paper doll," which were very different to set adrift. I remember being gutted that set adrift didn't get to number 1 - thank you very much Bryan Adams

3) Hue & Cry - Labour of Love

I hope "looking for linda" crops up sometime. Have that one on my MP3 player - I'm sure it was on a now album.

4) Gat Decor - Passion (do you want it right now)

In your face armand van helden! This was a gem of a dance anthem and it still sounds fresh today. Cracking tune.

5) The Clash - Should I stay or should I go?

Glad The Clash got a number 1 hit in the end - not my favourite song but it's catchy and I like Mick Jones' vocals. I can still picture the levi's ad!

Great idea for a thread by the way
