My Nokia 6300 has a maximum capacity in the phone book of 1000 contacts. I've installed a 2gb memory card, but the maximum limit of contacts is still at 1000. I need to expand this to about 2000 as I syncronize with Outlook. Any suggestions?

You can't - 1000 is the limit. Contacts doesn't use the memory card.

Unless there is an app out there somewhere that you can use to store numbers, you won't get any more in the contacts section.

Running Water, thank you - I feared so. The phone is great but phonebook too small.

I have to ask, do you really know 2000 people/companies/organisations whose details you need to hand? Is it possibly that you have seperate contacts (for example):
Mike (work)
Mike (mobile)
Mike (address) etc etc

All phones and Outlook etc allow you to have one contact with multiple details. For example:
Name: John Smith
Mobile (personal)
Mobile (business)
email etc etc

Sorry if you already store your contacts like this.

Prking, thank you.
Yes, I have at present some 1700 contacts and each has various phone numbers, addresses and the note field and this works fine with NOKIA 6680, N71, 6120 etc. It's like having the office in my pocket. But I like the 6300 better because of the size, as 6680 and N71 are too big and I don't need camera nor music. My ideal phone wold be tiny & light, with phonebook capacity as those mentioned above and the voice recorder. So I'm using my 6120 which is a good size and has the large phonebook. Would have liked the same in 6300, though.

Ah well, I thought it was worth a go. You're right it needs to be a smartphone. Have a look at the Nokia E series, E65? E61?

Have you ever thought of one of the PDA/phones?

My wife runs her life on her HTC P3600 and loves it (even though it's a little bulky).

When you do so much on your mobile it's a god send (the calander is great along with speadsheets etc............).
