Virgin Media and new lcd tv problems
Please help - we have bought a new lcd tv LG 42LF66. After plugging in the cable coming into the house into the Virgin Media STB and using a scart cable from the STB to the tv we get sound but no picture in AV1 or 2
The picture on the TV will work if we put the virgin cable into the tv via analogue and run auto tuning so presumably its not the tv that doesn't work. We can also get the playstation working through AV1 or 2 using the audio leads with the scart adaptor. The scart cable worked with the previous tv so we assume that it is not the lead that is the problem. Any suggestions what is wrong? |

I downloaded the LG user manual for your TV and had a read. It looks as though the LG doesn't have RGB in via the AV1/AV2 scart inputs. Your Virgin STB is probably set to RGB out and that is why you don't have a picture...either change it to Composite (CVBS) Video out...or...if the Virgin STB has a VGA connector use that as the LG has RGB in via the VGA connector...or use HDMI if the STB has that. |

Some scart plugs and some scart sockets are incredibly awkward to get fully inserted- it may feel as if its in but push along all 4 sides very firmly and the picture may appear. Scarts have always been a bit naff too and you may have damaged one or more pins when unplugging or plugging it. At the moment Virgin are offering the V+ box for £75. Not only will you be able to record stuff for free ,get access to HD material on BBC HD and their On Demand stuff for free but you can forget scart and use a nice simple HDMI lead instead which will also enable you to view all your channels upscaled for better quality |

How did you see to change it if the screen is blank? If you have tried my suggestion of checking the lead the most obvious one is to simply unplug the box then wait 15 seconds then plug it back in again. A reboot solves many problems |

If checking the lead shows up nothing then its either a reboot or a new lead or CS |
