One of the most annoying "features" of the 9200 for me is the way it rewinds to the start of a recording if you press play twice. I quite often absent mindedly press play again if the remote is being a bit sluggish, thinking I didn't press it properly. Does this annoy others ?

Yes, this is very frustrating and has been mentioned in other threads. I suggested a prompt (yes/no type) after the second PLAY press to give you a chance of cancelling if done by mistake.

it can be annoying somtimes but I've used it deliberately on quite a few occasions, I wouldn't miss the feature if it wasn't there.

I only use the pause button, press once for pause and again for play. Thats not to say I havn't missed it an played play twice.

Yes. It's doubly annoying because the remote response is sluggish at the best of times.

Not at all, very good feature.

How many times do you use it, as opposed to just pressing once? (Or are you taking the mick?!!!)

Not taking the mick, I use the feature quite often. I will quickly skip through a recording to see if Accurate-Recording has done its job properly then, with the time bar on screen, press play to re-set back to the beginning ready for watching.

I like the idea of a prompt.

Make it user configurable for the impatient ... then the very impatient can set it to 5 or so ...

Now that would annoy me, another button to have to press.

Not as many presses you'd have to make if you did it by accident

Never done it by accident, but I'd always have to press another button if there was a prompt.

Just as annoying as trying to log out of this forum. "Are you sure you want to log out", of course I am, that's why I pressed the bloody LOG OUT button.

On the Tevion PVR801/1620 you would press play to bring up the list of recordings.
Then choose a programme and press play to start it from the beginning, or red to play from where it last left off.
So normally pressing stop then play would return you to the start, and stop then red would be show the recordings list then carry on playing.

All I'm suggesting is that play would do nothing once playback had started, and that different buttons play a recording from the start, or from the last watched.

I like it as it is except that the prompt would only appear if the PLAY button was pressed twice. I use the 'one press' a lot to find out how much time is left on the recording, very useful.

This feature on the 9200 only operates if the play button is pressed a second time while the time bar is still displayed, 5 seconds by default.

Pressing play twice takes about as long as pressing 0 then OK which does the same thing?

Actually you might have to press play to bring up the time bar first - not sure why but you do for left/right - but this hurdle could be removed faily easily then get rid of the press play twice and no accidents or extra time taken .

If you had padding then you wouldn't need to check on AR, however let's not resurrect that one

Yes, but then you don't HAVE to log out. I've never logged out of it in my life.

But you don't HAVE to press the play button twice either, I don't consider the response to the remote to be sluggish. Maybe you should train you button finger to be less trigger happy and try not to be so absent minded, then you can go solo.

I'm with Big-les. I use it a lot. I nearly always check programmes to see if I have both ends before watching (if not I try and find a repeat and grab that instead).
Also quite often one of us will watch a prog alone and then recommend it to the other, so a quick rewind is useful then too.

Very occasionally double press by mistake, but I'd rather have the feature than not.

What I would like (or like for someone to tell me how it works) is a button to skip directly to a minute or so short of the end of a recording as well

While watching a recording press Play to bring up the time bar. Note the program length displayed at the right hand end of the time bar, say 00:58:XX for a 58 minute recording, ignore the seconds. To jump to say 50 minutes into the recording press 0050 on the remote key pad while the time bar is displayed and wait 2 seconds or press the OK button for an immediate jump. You can jump forwards or backwards through the recording by this method.

Another way is to bring up the time bar as before and then press the < or > button either side of the OK button, a white cursor appears. Move this along the time bar to the desired time and press OK for an immediate jump to that time.

EDIT: Actually I've just discovered that in the first method you don't have to bring up the time bar, just type in the numbers and the time bar appears.
