I want to create a ringtone out of Gotan Project's "Epoca". I have it on CD but use a mac so importing it means it goes into iTunes (from where AFAIK it is uncopiable if that's a word).
I don't want to pay for a ringtone of something I already own.
I have a SE phone. Can anyone help me on how to do this?
I would also want it in a format that I can bluetooth it across to another phone if and when I get one, so nothing that copy protects the track. cheers guys.

Use Audacity, it is a great program. It will allow you to record 'any audio' and then save it as an mp3, (once you have downloaded the mp3 add on). if you do a search on this board you should find lots of mentions of this program.

I bought Magix Ringtone Maker from PC World - it was £9.99 and works a treat

download an audio converter, free trial,it might give enough time to create a ringtone in the format you want, then transfer to phone.

As said, Audacity is the one you want and its free. I have been using it for years for ring tones and text alerts.

I tend to just bluetooth a full track to my phone and point to it as my ring tone, but if your after a shorter version do as suggested above and bluetooth it across. Theres no specific format the audio file has to be can be mp3 and still be transfered across
