Another AR question

I'm using the new software and generally quite pleased despite the occasional missed start and end of programs.

I am trying to understand how the two timers are allocated to scheduled recordings so that I can prevent the situation that happened last night.

The following programs were set to record:
1) Lark Rise to Candleford BBC1 8-9pm
2) Tropic of Capricorn BBC2 8-9pm
3) Around the World in 80 Gardens BBC2 9-10pm
4) Kingdom ITV1 9-10pm

Apparently BBC2 was running 10 minutes late but the new software dealt with this so that programs 2 &3 were recorded OK.

However, the forth program missed the first 10 minutes and only recorded Kingdom from 9.10 to 10 pm despite the fact that the first program had finished at 9pm and only one timer was in use from 9 to 9.10.

I notice that in the recording schedule the listed order of two programs that start at the same time is dependent on which is reserved first. I believe that I reserved the four programs in the order shown above so I imagine this is the order that they will have been in my schedule.

I suspect that the first timer is allocated to the first program in the schedule when there are two programs scheduled for the same start time. i.e. in my case programs 1 & 3 allocated to timer 1 and programs 2 & 4 allocated to timer 2. This would give the result I experienced of missing 10 minutes of the beginning of program 4.

This also implies that if I had reserved the above programs in the order 2,1,3,4 or 1,2,4,3 then both BBC2 programs would have been recorded on the same timer and so I would have recorded all of the ITV1 program on the other timer.

Can anyone confirm this is how the timers work or offer any other explanation?

I have just noticed that the REC1 and REC2 references do not coincide with which timer is actually used... rather REC1 is used to describe the earlier starting of simultaneous recordings and REC2 the latter. i.e. if a recording described as REC1 ends or is terminated then a simultaneous recording being described as REC2 suddenly becomes described as REC1.

I cannot see any way to see which actual timer will be used/is currently being used/has been used for a given recording.

maybe we need a way to prioritize certain programs over others.

For when late running programs cause a clash with previously scheduled recordings.

So your least important recording has 10mins missing from it, and not your favorite.

John.
