Orange PAYM Tarrif Refresh
Lawe13
12-02-2008
Hey guys,

Just came out of training session and whilst I cannot release the details of the plans Orange is performing a tarrif refresh in March.

The new plans will include the new data bundles I discussed earlier in the year which will be included in a new Multimedia Dolphin package. Also will u

What you will see is a reduction in prices and an increase in minutes across the board.

New Sim Only packages will be included as well.

As per usual the tarrifs will be Web/Telesales Tarrifs and Retail/Indirect Tarrifs, so there will be small differences but only in the price this time around. The package will stay the same but if you take the packages from Web/Telesales you will receive a price reduction per month.

There will be a new 36 month contract released later on in the year, with the ability to upgrade your handset after 12 months.

Obviously I can't give too many details, but as and when press releases are done....well more than likely someone else will have posted before me!

Yes it would, as long as you request the tarriff change as per BAU.

i feel 36 months contrtact is a joke and a 1/2 i would never sign up to it.

It's not bad when you will receive an upgraded handset every 12 months, rather than 18 at the moment which is the way the industry is going. I wouldn't say I would enter one, but I like the availability of the option.

Are there any changes to pay as you go? Just wondering, even though im not currently a customer but have been in the past.

None mentioned.

TBH the PAYG tarrifs are very good value, and the offers are great.

PAYM? Pay As You Month?

Sorry just an insider term.

PAYG does mean Pay As You Go.

PAYM just means Pay Monthly.

A 36 month contract tells me that Orange are on the wrong path. Surely that means people choosing 12 month contracts will be worse off. In my opinion, a 12 month contract is too long.

To the OP

My contract with Orange is up at the end of the month. I want the HTC TyTNII and was going to move to O2 and get thier XDA version of the HTC TyTNII.

The main reason for the move to O2 is for the better monthly plan esp the unlimited email/data plan.

Currently, I'm on the Racoon 35 plan which gives me 550 cross network any time minutes and 200 text messages. The O2 £35 plan is 600 mins and 1000 texts plus £10 for unlimited emails/data.

Would I be better off hanging off to March to see what Orange can offer?

Cheers

The Racoon 35 deal you got is because you went through an Indirect Channel. Had you gone through the web or telesales you would have received a much better deal which would have been 800 xnet anytime minutes, 100 texts and unlimited UK landline calls..

Now in March you will be in an even better position, wait till the new tarrifs are launched then speak to retentions.

No, you're missing the point of it. We don't expect this to be the bread and butter of our new connections. What we are saying is if you want to spend the average £35 a month, but want the minutes of a £50+ plan we will give you that option, but you will have to sign up for 36 months.

The industry has already moved towards the 18 month being the staple, and it will stay there. People who want 12 month plans have been in a worse position for some time now, it's not a recent move. Don't attack Orange personally, it's the industry that is to blame.

FYI

The new PAYM tarrifs are live on the web or by calling 0800 079 8000 (Option 1 for Consumer).

The Small Business tarrif refresh is due in May.

Any news on the data becoming competitive? I can't see anything on the web site which suggests that.

Yeah it seems the new tarrifs are showing on the Web but thats it,

The new £40 Multimedia Dolphin is there with the data bolt on, ring CS and ask them about it is my only advice at this time.
