having had the phone for just over 15hours (!) i think its fab! I have had some firmware probs, but hopefully will get them sorted from a friend. Those aside, its such a brill phone! The nes emulator is brill, not to mention the other little things you can download! The wifi is perfect, and easy to set up email clients etc. Having had a viewty for a few days recently i was a bit unsure about texting on touch screen phones, but the iphone came across as very user friendly, and I was able to text surprisingly quicker than i expected!
In addition the google maps and facebook stuff is awesome, and the locate me function was brill! I used it today whilst I was out, and then utilised google map to find a route by foot from where i was....no need to ever ask for directions again lol (well unless the battery gets battered from overuse!) Im sure others will give you a lot more of a technical overview, but i think its a great piece of kit...the only downside is the need for tracks to be used as ringtones, i know you can custom edit songs for this, but i have a feeling the iphone 2.0 will be a lot better in this respect my rating 9/10..nothing is totally perfect! |

I'm a beast with the texting now. I use both thumbs and type very quickly. About 45-50 words per minute using one of those online testers.

Its an amazing device. Missing features that will come with time and some of them are no brainers but as far as execution goes, its spot on. For a version 1 product in a totally new market for Apple, with an entrenched set of competitors, its an astonishing version 1 to be honest - they nailed so much at the first attempt (UI, form factor, syncing, web browsing) Just think that in 1-2 years we will have iPhones with 64GB-128GB of flash memory, a more mature MobileOSX, a nice cocoa based development environment, a ton of useful 3rd party apps, much better camera and the same superb integration with a Mac. In fact, I can see people syncing their entire Mac with the iPhone before long when you have that kind of storage. All of your documents with you all of the time, all your media, fast broadband speeds etc. It will be killer at this point. |
