Xbox Via The 9200

Firstly, I would point out that I am NOT technical, so apologies for stupid questions. I have my Humax 9200 linked to my 5 year Toshiba CRT TV via scart lead.

I have just bought an XBOX 360, but do not have any spare inputs on my TV. Is there anyway of connecting the XBOX via the Humax ? (isn't there a VCR scart on te back of it ?).

If this can work, how does it work ? How do you get to watch XBOX rather than channels via the Humax ?

Thanks

There was a thread about exactly this on hummy.org.uk a couple of months ago. I would try connecting the XBox to the VCR SCART. Then you would use the Source button (top left under flap) on the 9200 remote to choose between the TV display coming rom the XBox or the 9200. However for this to work the XBox must be able to output in CVBS or s-video format and I do not know if that is possible. The alternative would be to use a SCART switcher box.

The Xbox as supplied will output CVBS video via the lead with red/white/yellow and the scart adapter can be used to connect to the VCR socket on the Humax.

A third-party lead which connects without an adapter, directly from the Xbox socket to the VCR scart on the Humax, will carry the RGB signals too, allowing for sharper brighter pictures.

The Humax can output RGB from it's TV scart, but cannot output RGB from it's VCR scart, only CVBS or S-video as required by a VCR or DVD recorder (alright some DVD recorders could also record RGB but that's only available by connecting to the TV out scart).

However The Humax is quite happy to pass RGB signals through, from a DVD player/Freeview STB/satellite receiver, another PVR or I'm sure equally well an Xbox with RGB cable.

Ok I didn't know that, thanks for the clarification.

I use a cheap manual switch box (Argos less than a tenner), just plug everything in and it's all fine and RGB, though if I have my wii plugged in and on wiiconnect24, it screws with the aspect ratio on my TV. Also lets me hook everything up to my amp with one cable
