Recent developments in the format war.
Following Warners recent announcement - it seems things are beginning to change.
Look like Universal may have announced they are to drop HD-DVD exclusivity and release movies in blu-ray format. This would leave only Paramount supporting HD-DVD exclusively out of the main holywood studios http://www.thegamersthought.com/2008...niversals.html. Woolworths and Currys (who also own Dixons and PC World) have both announced plans to discontinue HD-DVD support in store. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=32482 http://www.homecinemachoice.com/cgi-...ws.php?id=9468 Online dvd rental store NetFlix is also dropping support for HD-DVD: http://www.usnews.com/blogs/daves-do...f-blu-ray.html Is the end now in sight? |

Exactly how many threads do we need to provide links to the same news
![]() As for the magazine article it's style is very much the in thing, only provide half the story and that based on speculation from other sources, one of the problems with magazines which need around a month lead time as unlike online sources clarification can be made the next day. I don't know what is going to happen in the months to come but at this time Universal are only releasing on HD DVD and have no Blu-ray releases scheduled (making allowances for movies that have different overseas rights holders). |

Anyone who thinks there is a future for HD DVD are deluding themselves. The war is over. |
