I saw this on youtube and thought how well Hayley Evetts
voice sounds on her version of Bleeding Love. In fact, although I'm sick to the teeth of hearing this song now, I prefer Hayley's straightforward-without the twiddly bits- version

I always thought she sang great way back in her Pop Idol days, and even thought she should be in the final, with of course the outcome of the show still being the same - the fantastic Will Young being the Winner!

I liked her on the show but she sounds completely average when you compare her version of BL to Leona's IMO. It's a shame she never got anywhere after Pop Idol but I think this clips proves why; thousands of girls have a voice like hers.

A blast from the past! Brings back the memories of Zoe Birket and Jessica Garlic! Thought this is a sweet version of the song it’s not amazing, Leona’s wobbles really do help make the song and give it that wow factor! Thought it’s really nice to know Hayley is still trying to get into the music industry, maybe she could follow in Jessica’s footsteps and represent us in Eurovision.

sorry but I have to disagree with you I think it is better that Leonas.

And as for her being like a thousand girls out there the same could be said for girls singing like leona they could be thousands it just we may not have seen them come out yet. I know I have seen a few girls on Aemrican idol over the last few weeks that sound just like leona.

BL is an easy song to sing the amount of people singing it on youtube (and making a good job of it)

Disagree completely, thousands of girls cannot sing like Leona IMO. I've never seen anyone on AI who sounds like Leona, there have been similar big diva singers but none who have Leona's tone and vocal range. Hayley Evetts could be anyone if you just heard her on the radio, nothing special and hence why I believe she's had no success post-Idol.


There are 3 good "Bleeding Love" covers on Youtube that I've seen and about 1000 disasterous ones. Nice to know you watch people singing it on Youtube though even though you dislike the song.

But hey if it's so easy, why not post a version of yourself singing it? I would love to critique that.

Leona's version is very beautiful and I love her voice, but Hayley's is less over the top and more pure.

I dont sing since a bout with nodules and I think at 50 Im a little too old

but if my daughter was to record it I would post a version for you to hear

but I dont think theres much chance of that as she thinks the song is too common now and people in the clubs/casinos/theaters she gigs at dont like it because they are sick of hearing it

From the girls you heard maybe they cant sing like leona.

But you did say 1000s of girl cannot sing like leona when you dont know for sure. So you could be wrong in that quote.

I prefer this version! I really don't like Leona's voice, she warbles in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong Mr Young does have a good voice but what he done to Light My Fire was Totally & Utterly Unforgivable .

Getting back to topic Leona is like a younger version of Whitney, but I would like her to sing something more upbeat, Whitney Pulled it off with "I wanna dance with sombody", so Leona should be able to as well.

Hayleys version of Bleeding Love has a nice twist to the backing, I wonder if she will ever release it.

Hayley sing the song beautifully by singing the actualy melody with no unnecessary additives. She also adds power to the vocal where it's appropriate. Something Leona struggles to do without shouting, even on record.

IMO, Hayley is still the best female singer to appear on a UK talent show, closely followed by Carolynne Good from FA2.


Will's version of Light My Fire is a cover of a cover. It is an almost exact copy of Jose Feliciano's version.

Will is a good singer and all credit to him for the successful career he has had but he should have made the top 5 at best in that competition.

I feel so sorry for her. She has a great voice, and her 'Show Me Heaven' was the best performance of Pop Idol imo.

Don't know what you're hearing that I'm not but I'm not hearing any power from Hayley's voice, I'm hearing a bland, nothing special, bog standard voice which I've heard so many times before on Youtube vids or on X-Factor/American Idol. (Girls who haven't gotten through that is.)

Bog standard and bland? I'm sorry, but I think that's a little harsh. I love Leona, I really do, but Hayley's version is fantastic. As others have said, she just 'sings' it, she doesn't have to add all the "tra-la-la's". To say Hayley sounds like girls who haven't even got through on the X Factor is very unfair; she is much better. I know you are a big Leona fan but I'd say that was out of order.

I like singers who can hold a note, that was the first time I could bear to listen to that song, much much better without Leona's vocal acrobatics.

Hayley doesnt have to put it harsh sliding sounds or warble high notes to convey her emotion when shes singing

there is something to be said for keeping a note and singing it pure without starting on one note going up and down the scales and finishing it with harsh slide as Leona does

i think Hayley's version of Whitney's "I Have Nothing" is far better than "bleeding love".
