Downloading episodes
I noticed the post about this seems to have disappeared. Is this for legal or technical reasons? I managed to view ep.1 but no luck finding ep 2 yet. sites appear to have closed up shop.

I'm not really sure on the whole downloading thing. I heard somewhere that it is all illegal, and I have also heard somewhere that it is legal as long as it is for home use.

bah i think this is different with it being BB and anyway i think most of us here who have paid for the feeds are entitled to download the shows.
Anyway 5 more downloads and we can then watch it on E4

There was a court case (no i dont have any specific ref) over the first episode of Enterprise that was captured off a wildfeed and distributed via the net. The upshot was that it wasn't considered illegal in the US to tape and share something that was broadcast unencrypted .
Ultimatly, BBUSA is funded by advertisers/sponsors whos tgt audience isn't in the UK so its not like they are losing out on revenue. (although i suppose E4 could put up a case they are a subscription service - but then agiain its not like ther are going to show the early episodes either). Download and be damned thats what i say. |

Well, not being one for those sort of things, but if you know how to use binary newsgroups (if not - find out..!) then there's one called :
alt.binaries.tv.big-brother which currently has all the Aussie, US ans UK BB episodes posted on it in their entireity. Personally, I don't watch, but if you feel like it, it's there !

Use grabit instead... www.shemes.com/grabit (tutorials).
OE is not an option, grabit is the best thing to use imo. |

OK, well I've got as far as downloading Grabit and tried to download some BB USA ep 5 files but I cannot play the R00 or RAR format on Real Player, Media Player or Div X. Any ideas?
P.S. what do all the different posts mean: are all the episodes in bitesize chunks? |

Psycho, www.winrar.com
install winrar then click on the .rar file and extract the main avi file. rar, r00, r01, r02, r03 etc will all join together to form the video file. Btw how far back can you see? I can send you the first couple of eps if you can only get as far back as 3 or 4. Better to watch from the beginning.

Thanks Coljj. I managed to see episode 5 but 4 was corrupted. Still not quite sure how this particular technical marvel works really, eps 2,3, &4 would be handy.

Thanks James |

Apologies for posting yet more technical queries... but well I actually have no technical knowledge lol so while I'm impressed to have got this far, I'm still stuck..
I had planned to use the newzbin site to download the episodes, so I bought credit and installed Grabit... but for the life of me I can't work out what the 'Internet News (NNTP) Server' is called and I can't seem to get Grabit to work without it.. This may well just be me being incredibly stupid, but if anyone has any way of helping me out here it would be greatly appreciated ![]() edited for spelling... another of my weak areas heh heh |
