TLC - Are they still together?

I am or was a huge fan of TLC, I thought they were brilliant. But after Lefteye's death understandably they disappeared for a while. I was just wondering though does anyone know if they are gonna come back to the band or have they split? I checked Wikipedia but sometimes that darn websites confuses u even more

The only talented one died and since then I haven't heard about them.

It's not really TLC without left eye so I hope they don't do anything else tbh.

Am I wrong in thinking they were going to audition for another member after Left Eye died?

They released a new album after Left Eye died as well as Greatest Hits. Neither did particularly well, which is a shame.

I think '3D' was recorded with Lisa and released after he death (correct me if i'm wrong). It didn't do well which is suprising because 'Fanmail' was massive.

No gemma you are right! They did do auditions for a new member-not too sure what came of that-but they have released some songs since lisa left eyes death

I looked up wikipedia and (i know, not the most reliable website) apparently the new member was called O So Krispie - and it was for a one off event - its news to me lol!

I was really surprised that 3D and the Greatest Hits didnt do very well, considering the huge success of CrazySexyCool and Fanmail. Wasn't CrazySexyCool one of the biggest albums of the 90s?

I used to be a huge TLC fan (more for Left Eye I think).

Anyway, TLC released 3D after Lisa died. Only one of the songs featured Left Eye on it properly and the other ones with her raps were simply taken from older songs or Left Eye's solo work (Supernova). 3D was very hit and miss. Some of the tracks were very poor for TLC.

They also released Now and Forever... the Hits (my name is in there with some cheesy comment )

They released a few singles after Left Eye died; Girl Talk, Hands Up, Turntable and Damaged. Despite not doing so well, they still managed to have decent videos.

That O'So Krispi girl was just for the show, apparently. The song they released with her was dreadful.

I still like CrazySexyCool, but not so much the rest.

Left Eye really was the soul of the band, methinks and she also had a habit of making peole successful (Mel C's first number 1 was with her... Donnell Jones had his only real hit with her etc).

There was rumours that Chilli was going solo but I don't follow them anymore. T-Boz had a few of her own songs dotted about, but that was when she was part of TLC.

"3D" was partially recorded when Left Eye died but it wasn't complete. Some of the raps they used on some tracks were just studio out-takes.

It's a shame that "3D" didn't do better because I think it's their best album despite the absence of Left Eye on many tracks.

It is 100% definitely their worse!!

Dirty Dirty, So So Dumb, Quickie, In Your Arms Tonight, Over Me, Good Love, Hey Hey Hey Hey and Give It To Me While It's Hot are really crap.

The songs where Left Eye was just added sound like amateur attempts - Something some fan would make when mixing two songs together. What's worse is that some of the raps had been used for Lisa's Supernova project.

"So So Dumb" is one of the best songs on '3D'.

And the reason '3D' didn't perform as well as their previous records is because T-Boz and Chilli didn't promote it. They really just put it out for the fans, made some videos and that was it.
T-Boz said in an interview quite a few years ago that the label were rushing them to either put it out or scrap it & just go with the greatest hits (they wanted to capitalise off of Lisa's death), so they just buried themselves in the studio finishing up the album for the fans.
'Now and Forever - The Hits' didn't sell well either. Again, that was because of a lack of promotion. It was just put out there for fans.

Somebody mentioned them replacing Lisa. They never set out to replace Lisa with 'R U The Girl' (which did pretty good in ratings), the show was about finding a special fan to appear on the theme song ("I Bet") and perform with them on stage. T-Boz and Chilli said in numerous interviews that you can't ever replace a TLC girl and that wasn't their intention at all. They'd never disrespect Lisa & her family that way. The show was purely about finding a fan to appear on the song.

T-Boz and Chilli have said they wouldn't rule out anything ("Never say never"), but they really can't see doing another album under the name TLC. They said they may do a farewell tour or something though.

T-Boz and Chilli are currently working on their solo albums, and a new Lisa album is in the pipeline along with 'The Last Days of Left Eye' coming to DVD.

My God, I just don't know what to say... I mean, yes, "In Your Arms Tonight" is complete and utter crap but other tracks you mentioned ("So So Dumb" and "Quickie") are amongst my favourites!

OK, really crap was harsh but TLC's standard was a lot better than what they churned out with 3D.

There's a few songs which aren't on albums that I loved, too, such as the rap only version of 'Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg' and 'What About Your Friends' featuring Outkast,

I only managed to catch this on VH1 the other week. Fascinating and yet quite chilling that Left-Eye basically knew that something bad was going to happen to her in the days leading up to her death.

btw, some of Chilli's solo songs can easily be found on the net...

And as for 3D being a bad album, well I sort of agree but at least TLC got to make what I would call one of the best albums ever made in CrazySexyCool - just sheer brilliance from start to finish.
