Any other London based posters enjoy eating out in London a lot? IF so where are your favourite places?

I love Le Montmarte, French bistro just off Upper St in Islington. Also, Balans in Old Compton St is fab but you often have to wait for a table.

If you like lebanese/morrocan, I highly recommend:
Al Hamra - Shepherd Market Levant - Wigmore St If you like tapas, you must try El Pirata in Mayfair. Lush.

I guess one good thing about London being so international is that you can eat great food from every culture in the world, eg great Indian in Southalll, great Portuguese in Stockwell, great Turkish in Dalston etc.

'Tis one of my best kept secrets but I love $ Grill Bar on Exmouth Market..... Its not so much for the food but they do the best cocktails
Also Yum Yums in Stoke Newington is fab for Thai food. Sedir on Theberton Street does fab Turkish food, and for atmosphere I always enjoy Galipolli on Upper Street (they have 3 of them along the same road - each one a little different but equally as atmospheric) Pierre Victoire off of Oxford Street is divine too There a few gastro pubs that do amazing food to. The Union just off Farringdon Road is excellent and for homemade hamburgers I recommend The Islington Tap on Liverpool Road There must be loads more - I'll get back to you OP! I like to eat out

Haven't been there for ten years, but Sofra (serving Turkish cuisine) just off Oxford street was very nice. I've been addicted to hummus since!

I like to take advantage of the set Lunch menus at starred places. Pertrus is only £30 per head. Boxwood £25 etc. You can eat at some fantastic places for a fraction of the evening costs. Oh and the Lindsay House is pants, just don't bother, go to Maze or pied a terre. |

There are a fair few Italians nearby, although a fair few may not be up to much. There are a few top table deals on Italians nearby, although I haven't been to any of these myself:

![]() Also Orngebathwater suggested a nice place on Wigmore street. The best thing about Wigmore street is that it's not Oxford street! |

Can anyone recommend a good vegetarian restaurant in London? Either near Kensington or Covent Garden would be good? I'm going for a weekend trip soon and would love to eat somewhere a bit special. Thanks

been to Maze (if you mean the Gordon Ramsay one) and it was amazing.
The kitchen was in the middle of a service so more interesting than the other times I have been given the guided tour in places which is always towards the end of the evening. |

I like the way it can be as expensive as you like or cheaper for a light lunch. Rubarb mules are so very good. Anyone been to La Troumpete since it got a star? Have been a while before, thought it was a bit so - so. |
