Is this TV HD Ready?

I'm looking to buy an HDTV to use with my PS3.

I have found this 22" Samsung one on Ebuyer for £249.99

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133810

I presume that it is HD ready as it has an HDMI plug.

But i noticed that it is just named Samsung SyncMaster SM225MW TFT

Other TVs are called HD Ready LCD TV Plasma etc

Replies appreicated. Cheers!

In a word..Yes!

The resolution is well within tolerances for HD reception

I have that same TV, it's excellent.

Better suited as a PC monitor than a TV though, if you intend to use SD TV more than anything else on it, I would suggest a different TV, it's good, but by no means the best at SD - but if you want to use it mainly for HD material, or as a PC monitor, it's really good.

The resolution isn't high enough for 1080i/p, however, just 720 - the resolution is 1680x1050, so higher than the 1280x720 for 720p, but lower than the 1920x1080 for 1080p.

If you are after a TV then don't get this. The reason it is cheap is that it's a PC monitor with TV bits shoved in! It has to scale EVERYTHING to suit the non-TV standard 1680 x 1050 resolution, which is far from ideal.

It's actually part of the Samsung Business Displays range, not the TV range!

Download the manual here and look for yourself;

When it comes to Video then more pixels doesn't always mean a better picture. The correct number of pixels to suit the image you want to view means a better picture (even 768 lines for 720p signals is a compromise)

IMO The built-in DVT/ATV tuner (Freeview/analog) is a shoe-in job to make it "useful" and the sound will be sh!t as with most of the Samsungs. In summary - be aware that it is a PC monitor with some TV functionality, not a TV!

LCDMAN (ex-Samsung {shhhh})..............Says buy a TV if you want to use it as a TV!

lcdman, I was thinking of getting one of these which I will be using regularly as a monitor but I also fancied getting something with an analogue tv tuner (will get a twin pvr freeview too )for tv watching.

I currently have a crt monitor and that is the only thing I watch tv on too via a tv stick on my pc.

It would be good to be able to watch tv without having the pc on. I don't really have the room or the money to get both a tv and a seperate monitor.

Is this a better monitor though? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125099, or not much between them as far as monitors go? If I got the 226 I would upgrade my single tuner freeview tv stick to a dual tuner card probably.

I would be grateful for your thoughts, cheers.
