I was wondering if some could give some advice, I'm new to all this H.D LCD TV's so any help would be most welcome...

Today I have ordered a new 32" Philips HD TV and read up on the instruction manual online and it mentions this Phosphur Burn In which I suspect is another definition for Screen Burn?

It says in the maual that any static image could cause this burn problem, what i would like to know is what happens if I watch a lot of TV where a channel has one of those dreaded DOG's on screen all the time (ie ITV2 ITV3 etc etc), can this cause problems with the screen?

Plus what about sports programmes like a Football match where they have on screen graphics during the match..can this causes problems with burn too?

Or does the instruction manual really mean the image has be static for "hours" before this problem occurs without really saying so? The instruction manual makes it sound like I only have to watch one half of a football match and my screen will be knackered from burn in, from all the graphics they put on screen..

Am I worrying over nothing or do i have to be careful with what I watch? Any help or advice would be most kindly appreciated..thanks in advance.

The phosphur in an LCD is only used for the backlight so I don't see how you could get burn in, on an plasma or CRT yes though it's not that much of a problem if you are reasonably sensible.

Unfortunately Philips (like most manufacturers) just hash out the same disclaimer in most of their manuals even though LCD screens don't really suffer from burn-in. They don't tailor it to the TV. Heck, my manual for my Philips TV says "You need two people to carry a TV over 20kg" well the TV is about 16kg, so... LOL. You know what I mean.

I have a plasma.

Onscreen DOGs don't seem to cause a problem. I think that's because they are slightly transparent, so they change colour slightly according to the image that's behind them.
