hi folks

i recently bought an LG 32LC46 32 lcd tv read up on it and it has quite good reviews so i took the plunge my first hd tv at a decent price,i recently bought a toshiba ep30 hd dvd player so i could make the most of tv.

my question is,my tv says it is capable of 1080p/24 display but i dont thing it has the resolution to display this picture(not enough pixles) if have connected my xbox 360 to it via hdmi and when the talk to each other they both set themselves at 1080p/50hz ,can someone please advise me whats the best settings for my hd dvd play and tv and what does my tv do with a 1080p signal

The manual will refer to the TV being able to accept a 1080p/24 source via HDMI which it then will scale down to 1366*768 and one reviews mentions "judder" on 1080p/24 source material which may indicate the TV is frame rate converting to 25 or even 30.

A UK 360 will send 1080p/50 and as for a HD DVD player (or Blu-ray for that matter) if the TV accepts and processess 1080p/24 correctly then that is what you should use however if it doesn't you may have to experiment a little, perhaps 1080i output could look better.

thanks for the reply jarrak,i have set it at 1080i and the picture looks stunning and an my 32 inch there was ni noticeable difference between that and a 1080p signal....i know the say hd dvd is dead but there are loads of films out there and i can now make the most of my tv,by the time i have seen all the films i want blu-ray playeres may be down in price then i will get a stand alone one,i dont fancy a ps3 sitting under my tv in the lounge

The only difference should be on very fast moving action, mostly you won't see any difference.

I have found my LG excellent for fast moving action. My kitten loves it too. Escpecially the cartoons like Engie Bengie!
