You need to be more specific about the features you want the phone to have.

I'm in the same situtation as you - curently have the samsung d900 also - and can't really see anything that betters this. (o2)
The only thing I dont like about this phone is not being able to set my mp3's as txt msg tones and battery life isn't that great. Has anyone please got a recommendation of a mobile that does set mp3's as texts, as well as the features of my curent samsung d900, thank you |

Has anyone please got a recommendation of a mobile that does set mp3's as texts, as well as the features of my curent samsung d900, thank you The three phones i would recommend at the minute is the LG Viewty, Nokia N95, or to keep things simple (but FULLY customizable) the Nokia 6300. I currently have the 6300, and very happy with it, but as i said on a different thread, my partner is thinking of getting a contract, but happy with her current phone so i said ill have the new one - and im stuck between the above two. I think the Viewty is the stylish and modern look with a great camera and touchscreen features. Then the N95 is a smartphone, great camera and GPS sat nav. I believe its the fact of too many phones out to choose from, and not the fact of not enough, if you look into all thats out there. |

Note down what you use most on phone or a wishlist so that some phones can be suggested, i.e. camera very important, need MP3 player, would like a radio etc..

Pretty much the same 'wants' as me, have been into the 02 shop today and whittled it down to 6 phones, but not sure they can have mp3's as txt tones, got 4 days til official upgrade date, so time to research.
Sony Ericsson W910i or K8501 Nokia N95 or N81 Nokia 6500 classic or slide Any pros or cons of the above? |

Having been back to the store, the N series are too big and bulky for my needs, not sure i like the controls/buttons of K850i, gone off the nokia 6500 classic, leaving 6500 slide, W910i and salesman pushing me towards one i hadn't considered, samsung G600! Decisions, decisions!

Forget the G600 the camera is terrible, you are much better of with the 6500 Slide for the camera. W910i if music is more important to you. You have to decide that tho.

I would say that go for Nokia for features, power and reliability (and N series for customisation) or go for Sony Ericsson for camera/music as your main needs. I would personally steer clear of Motorola, as their handsets are over-priced and under-powered.
I went from a Sony Ericsson K800i to a Samsung D900 due to a fault with my K800i, but the Sony operating system is better, more customisable, the phone was more powerful, and the onboard cybershot camera was much better than the rubbish one in the Samsung. The radio/MP3 player is also better than the Nokia. you can visit http://www.mobile-review.com/review-en.shtml for very comprehensive reviews on the majority of new handsets. Some of the wording is a bit dodgy because it's been translated from Russian, but they're pretty knowledgeable. |

I just ordered a LG KU990 Viewty, even though i said i was leaning more towards a Nokia N95. After realising that using its so poplar GPS, WiFi and such costs even more unless you pay for special bundles, i though i wont bother with it, as it has nothing else appealing to me.
Another thing that helped make my mind up was looking at videos of phones on youtube. Dont know if it will help anyone else, but you get to see the phones features, reaction times, size, looks etc, and you can even get video reviews of them. I found it better than reading about them on sites. Hope this helps anyone |

Thanks for the you tube suggestion, having watched several reviews there, i'm now leaning towards the Nokia 6500 slide, providing I can set my own text tones!

N95 is fabulous, camera is great! Very easy phone to use like all Nokias. Email accounts easy to set up, music player good too. I would highly recommend it.

I just rang orange retentions a few hours ago because my 12 month contract was coming to an end, the sales patter person was really helpful. I got the nokia 6300 about a year ago on a £30 package but now I get:
Nokia 6500 Classic (prefer the small form factor over the bulkier but more feature packed slide) 225 minutes 100 texts £15 p/m which I thought was a pretty good deal. I hope that helps.
