Dual Tv - Faulty?
Adam D

hi, Well we have just over a year old Dual 32inch(ithink)

Anyway, Its not used too often now, and i have noticed that when its on, you cant have the volume on low as the tv is making a buzzing noise,

Well, its from the actual unit, Not the speakers as you can mute them and its still there,

Its not a low buz, its the sort of highpitch one you hear, Im sure you know what i mean.

Its out of the 12month warranty now, and i cant find the warranty information (it may well be still in, but im sure it was purchaced around this time last year)

Any ideas or do i have to put up with it?

You haven't said if it's a CRT or LCD model?

A high-pitched noise from a TV is usually caused by a vibrating coil or transformer.
If it's just a coil in the line circuitry it can usually be cured by a spot of glue but to be sure you'll need to call in the services of a professional TV engineer.

I got given one of these the other day and it sounds like the same problem
Is it ok for the first 10 or 20 mins then gets noisy?
Did you find a solution?
I suspect a duff cap or sync chip, but I haven't got around to pulling it open yet but will let you know if i get anywhere...

Looks like john was spot on..

it turned out to be riddled with dry joints in the line output stage and power supply also a inductor had a loose and partly separated core
I removed clamped and re-dipped it,
if your core is just loose a dab of glue to hold it still will cure it if it has begun to separate and you cant clamp and re varnish a plastic zip tie (tie wrap) around the core would cure the problem.

IF YOUR NOT USED TO MESSING WITH TVS DONT FIDDLE WITH THEM THERE ARE LETHAL VOLTAGES INSIDE.
YOUR LIFE IS WORTH MORE THAN A REPAIR BILL
