You are going to have to get a phone yourself to use. You cant cancel the contract without giving them the phone back.

Without Orange Care he is stuffed. He will have to contact CS to get a replacement SIM card. He will then have to buy a phone to put it in. He can't buy a Viewty from Orange they are only available to new/upgrading customers.
Tell him not to decline Orange Care next time. Lesson learned.

Have Orange stopped doing the Emergency Care?
Emergency Care is a product offered to customers who do not currently have Care. It includes a replacement at a reduced rate plus a subscription (minimum 30 days) to Orange Care. Emergency care covers the phone, battery, SIM and charger. Emergency Care is subject to a fee of either £30 or £100 dependant on the handset plus £6 per month subscription to Orange Care.Customer services will be able to confirm the applicable fee for the Viewty.

Definitely ring 07973100150 and ask to speak to the Insurance team. You can get Emergency Care as stated above, so all is not lost.
