Big Brother 'could be cut short'
Quote:
The Watcher: No strike might mean less 'Big Brother' It makes perfect sense with regards to why CBS have chosen this twist where the HG's pair up. They can have them evicted as pairs and keep the season short, or split them up to have it run the course.
The weirdest season of a weird show could be cut short to make way for May sweeps fare. By MICHAEL HEWITT Special to the Register The earliest and weirdest season of "Big Brother" might also turn out to be the shortest. Season nine, which began this week, was hauled out of its usual summer slot to help fill out the strike-potholed wreck of CBS's winter schedule. Now that the strike is settled, the three-nights-a-week "Big Brother" might be done in less than two months, clearing the May sweeps calendar for CBS's scripted heavyweights. How would that work? It's all down to the "twist." The subtitle for this season is "'Til Death Do Us Part"; the 16 Houseguests will be paired up for sleeping arrangements, competitions – and eliminations. That means it would only take six elimination rounds and a final vote to take care of the entire season. Of course, if "Big Brother" does well in the ratings, the pairs could be broken up and the season could be extended. CBS isn't tipping its hand yet. The network said this week that it would have new episodes of many shows ready to go by early April, but none would require "Big Brother" to vacate the schedule. Just expect the unexpected. |

I thought a three month series would be a bit long for the number of pairs!

That's why they shouldn't have evicted Sharon and Jacob! At least not that soon.

I think they'd just move BB later, to free the 8pm snd 9pm slots for their new prime-time stuff.

Just media talk, CBS haven't confirmed any of this. The series will at least run until April if not longer.
The pairs will probably be split up at some point. |

I sure the press pack said something like "for the three month duration" so they were planning a 3 month show. Initially at least

I'm sure it's been confirmed that it will last 90 days. Who's to say they won't split the couples after a few weeks. Maybe at final 8, with someone going back in, making the jury and final 2?

Hmmmmm on live feed the boys started talking about this BB being a short season.
Quick cut to FOTH. Can`t see it lasting more than another 3/4 weeks myself |

I hope it isn't shorter than usual, I've paid for my live feeds now.
It depends whether there is any scripted programming ready to fill the gap- the writers have only just come off strike, and it must take a couple of months to turn around a show so it's ready for broadcast. Then again, the way it's going there won't be any contestants left if they keep evicting them in pairs. They're going to have to split them up soon or else it will be a shorter than usual season one way or the other, unless they're thinking of adding more HG's. |
