eggxactly® Egg Cooker (as seen on Dragon's Den) available soon
I've just stumbled across this:
eggxactly® In the summer of 2006 James Seddon pitched the Eggxactly egg cookers on the BBC 2 programme Dragons' Den. Despite a disastrous attempt to demonstrate the product working he still managed to get offers of investment from both Richard Farleigh and Peter Jones. It was the only time on Dragons Den that investment was offered for a product that wasn't successfully demonstrated. Video Clip I hope the egg cooker is a success for Mr Seddon, particularly as he's invested so much time/money on this. He reminds me of Sir Clive Sinclair (ZX81, Spectrum, C5 fame). We have some very good inventors in this country, and it's fantastic news to hear that this unit will be manufactured here in the UK. |

Well, the first link works perfectly okay, but, the second link is absolutely dead. Anyway, I think this might be a good idea, and would I buy this if I ate boiled eggs, yes, I think I would. I think a lot of people might buy this, but, there's also quite a few people who will prefer to stick to the old fashoined way of cooking eggs in boiling water. I think they'll do well with this though.

An awful invention for Britian.
Many people don't know how to boil an egg, and this will ensure they stay that way. I thus see a diet of convenience food, leading to diabetes, obesity, and early death. |

Looks like one of those pointless items they advertise at 4am on those teleshopping slots on the Sci-Fi channel.
Is boiling an egg that much of a chore? |

I'm sure they will have instructions for this though, and not just leave it up to the customer to try and figure it out and hope for the best. If they follow the instructions, then I'm sure they will/might get the hang of it.
I am sure they will get to grips with the gadget - it seems idiot proof. But they will never be able to cook even the most basic meals |

2 mins will be a very undercooked egg , so yes, there are obviously people who cannot boil an egg.
![]() Though I don't eat boiled eggs to be fair - but was just saying it's not difficult if you do. |

Or are you suggesting we should all go back and learn how to light fires with sticks to put pans of water on or toast bread? |

Um...and? There's no need to learn to do it with water, because they now have this to do it for them.

But this is a simple meal with simple ingredients; you're just using a different and, for some, easier way of cooking it.

I'm in trouble then, according to "pricesout".
I'm soon to be a dad, and my daughter will grow up NOT knowing how to boil an egg. Worse still...................................... She won't know how to make toast under the grill for her little soldiers For the last thirty years, we've had a toaster. Yes, I know, shameful

But they will never be able to cook even the most basic meals It's only a matter of time before messing with anything as dangerous as saucepan of boiling water will be against the law unless you've filed, risk assesments, have a trained nurse on stand by and have paid your licence. I saw this episode of DD and this bloke was hilarious, unintentionally and fairplay to him for getting the backing, this sort of thing will always sell in small, constant numbers, it'll never a huge seller. I'd enever buy one but I can see how it might sell to someone who lives in a bedsit with a shared kitchen... who may want a quick snack but doesn't want to muck about in the kitchen. |

Boiling an egg is never an exact science it depends on the size and quality of the egg for a start . A large free range egg can take upto five minutes to cook properly . And never keep eggs in the fridge they are more prone to cracking and they have come out of a chickens bottom so I keep them away from fresh food .

I think it's a good idea if you eat boiled eggs a lot, how many people saying it's a pointless idea have toasters or a kettle?

![]() I've pre-ordered one - black. I quite like boiled eggs, along with soldiers to dip in - yummy. They're healthy too. I rarely eat them, because of the time taken to boil the water, having to watch the pan and then clearing up. I don't see why this wouldn't become as popular as a toaster or a kettle. I imagine people will have them in small staff canteens too. |
