I would not buy Phillips. They are nothing but trouble.
I had a Phillips television set in the past and it stopped working after a year. I have Samsung or LG at the moment. |

My mate returned his 42" Phillips plasma last weekend as the picture had started getitng blue haze all over it and the engineer said he'd probably be left without a TV for up to 2 months if he let Phillips take it away to repair it.
His lasted less than a year. he got a Sharp LCD instead. I wouldn't touch a Phillips with a barge pole myself. Far too many problems reported with their TV's. Personally, I'd go with Pioneer (if you can afford one!), Sony, Panasonic or maybe Sharp. |

Well I had a 42" Philips Plasma for 2 years.
Some times I would switch on and get sound from one channel and audio from another. I then started getting the TV switching itself straight back off after bringing it out of stand-bye, this got progressively worse as time went on. In the end I had to keep unplugging it from the mains to get it to work again. A capacitor was replaced on the power board to correct this, as Philips had said the complete power board was no longer available. I decided to write to Philips and to be fair they offered to replace my TV for the 42PFL7662D which is LCD. As my TV was a Plasma I was not sure to except, but then looking at the specs and the fact the Plasma was 2 years old, the LCD looked the better option, so I accepted. Been using the LCD for 3 days now and the picture quality is very good, crisp and clear. I just hope they have revamped the power boards. |

Just to try and balance things I have had Philips TV's for years with no problems, still have the 36" CRT which is working as good as new(although a bit big for bedroom !) Currently have a 42" LCD (about a year) and I'm very pleased with it. Great picture/sound quality and the features are good to.
