Anyone on the Blyk network..does it work?

For anyone who doesnt know Blyk is a network for 16-24 year olds that gives you 217 texts and 43 minutes a month free in return for you looking at ads. Its piggy-backed on the Orange network. Sounds good..but if you read the forums on Blyks own website there seems to be a lot of problems. Anyone any experience of Blyk..good or bad?

It has its problems...

Last i heard there was no way of topping up (might look just a tad stupid going to a shop and asking for a Blyk top-up lol)
The 1st time i tried it, i never got the settings sent to my phone automatically, so i must have sent for them like 10 times and they never came.
The 2nd time i tried it, i managed to register but it kept saying there is an error with the server or something like that whenever i tried to login (as mentioned above)

Both sims ended up in the bin, wont be going for a 3rd time!

This reply seems typical of the replies on their forums. Good idea..but the technology doesnt seem to work. Pity.

Alot of new start ups have teething problems, but you can't really grumble at something being offered for free, it's not as though you have to read the MMS's they send you.

You do have to retrieve the mms messages they send you..otherwise youre not meeting the terms of your agreement with them!
And for the record the service may be free but it needs to be reliable. If you send a text you need to be reasonably sure its going to get to its destination. More often than not they dont. And they dont allow delivery reports!
Some calls never connect (mainly to o2 numbers it seems). In an emergency you cant rely on Blyk. There did have a maintenence session on Monday night which they think might have solved the problems...we will see.

I have no problems with them. Yes, i understand you obviously have to retrieve the MMS, but that does not mean you are reading them. I stand by you can't complain over something that is free.
