A Nightmare on `subtitle` street.

Afew years ago i purchased the boxset of `A nightmare on elm street`.
Every so often the subtitles kept coming on. I had to go into the audio options and turn them off. Afew minutes later, they came on again.
I changed the boxset about 3-4 times before getting my money back.

A couple of weeks ago i decided to buy the boxset again.
I started watching the first film then the subtitles came up .
All through the film i had to keep stopping it to turn the things off.

Last night i watched the second film - Would you believe that the same thing happened - SUBTITLES.

WHY ?

Since the first attempt afew years ago, i have changed my DVD player twice, so surely it cannot be this at fault.
I currently have a brand new Panasonic DVD Recorder with built-in Hard drive & Freeview.

Why are the subtitles coming up ?
Has anyone else had this or a similar problem ?

Someone please help
be more pacific

Do you have a DVD writer on your PC?

The original Entertainment in Video set was manufactured using 4.7GB DVDs, so you could make perfect 1:1 back-up discs using a program like DVDShrink which allows you to deselect subtitles.
