Yeah, that really is a great offer - a bit wary about taking out an 18 month contract though!

At £19.50 the total cost over that time is ony £350. Lots of mobile operators do 18 month deals now and if not, the contract cost is a lot higher!
I'll have a think and decide later on - great stuff though, you've got a cracking deal matey. |

Ok, I was with vodafone for like, 6 years, then I moved to Orange, then Virgin, then Vodafone, and then now 3.
I got the Nokia 6120 with 75 free mins and 600 free texts - £15 a mth for 18 months. WORTH EVERY PENNY. The best network I have ever used. Customer services is in india but they are not like other indian call centres, they understand you, and sort problems immediatly. I recommended a friend and got my cashback when they said I would. Amazingly fast delivery and prices are great. Never lost signal at all. I could never get signal at my home until 3. You wont regret joining them. |

Its the opposite in Wales lol
Everyone i know who has a 3 phone can never get a signal, especially in the house for some reason. Go down the road and its fine. Also know someone in ireland with the same problem. Put me off 3 for good the amount ive heard people complain about them, even though they always have fantastic offers! They remind me of a no frills company

Minimum 300 mins anytime, around 300 texts per month, and phone wise not too fussy, although a nokia is preferred....having looked at most of the nokias on 3, any of them would be fine

For a one of payment of £49.99 you could get the far superior SE K850i on the same tariff for the same time period. |

If anyone is looking to sign up to three online here's a couple of tips.
Firstly buy your contract from Three via the Quidco site: http://www.quidco.com This will get you cashback. To put that into context, if your looking at the lifetime cost of your 18month contact being £270 (based on 300 mix). I actually got £60 back on a £15pm contract 7month ago, so they have reduced this amount on the £15 contracts. The cashback would reduce this to £237.50 making the monthly cost £13.91. Cash back varies between tarrifs however it can be upto £80 and there's no messing about with sending in bills on the third Tuesday of of first month with the letter "z" in it between the hours of 9 and 10am. Not sure if this still works but: Start an online chat with the Sales staff. They will advise you of offers etc. and give you all the spiel. When your fed up tell them you was looking to sign up, but want to think about it. They more often than not give you a code for a free Bluetooth Headset or something. Ok the headsets maybe not the best, but for free its not bad. |

3 have been trying to stop dodgy cashback deals by dealing direct with customers. Ofcom and other organisations have been trying to outlaw cashbacks which have caused more complaints than almost anything else in the mobile industry.
I have been with 3 quite a lot over the last 5 years and it's been utterly dreadful at times but has got better. i don't think it's quite as good as others yet but it will be when the network sharing agreement with T-Mobile is complete by this time next year. Thde discounted 3 deal seems to have been well received and I have no doubt it will be repeated if the network are hungry for new business. |

The only people who will benefit as pointed out in previous posts are t-mobile customers, Three have the best 3G coverage in the UK mainly due to the fact they were the first 3G operator and therefor got a headstart! |

This thread was created to discuss a direct deal.I've never been a fan of Cashback BUT I haven't seen a dodgy cashback deal on 3 from any of the major suppliers in over 6 months (unlike some other networks...). I dare say there may be some out there, but not from the usual culprits as CPW or P4U. Anyway, I'd like to join the overwhelming majority of people on this thread and confirm that 3 are great. Their 3G coverage is second to none (with excellent 3.5G reach) and the EDGE roaming from Orange is welcome on the rare, RARE occasion when a 2G signal is required. |

good to know. Digital spy should take some crefdit, as even though ive had one bad experience I have found out from this forum its worth hanging on, as 3 are better in a lot of ways than their rivals, and the bad days seem to be behind them. I still get calls from 3 "dealers" tho a bit too much on the mobile offering me the crappy cashback deals!!

As the owner and user of two curremt 3 handsets and a 3 USB dongle I can confirm that the coverage is NOT great in many areas (even in big cities) and often 3's Internet access is unusable as services are very restricted when roaming on Orange. Roaming is NOT rare, it happens a lot because the 2100Mhz 3G coverage is less robust than GSM. 3 also have a much slower network for Internet access via HSDPA than others. Currently Vodafone offer up to 7.2Mb/s, T-Mobile and 3 offer up to 2.8Mb/s. My own experience tested 100 yards from a 3 cell site is about 700K/bs although I note www.speedtest.net shows speeds of around 1Mb/s are common on 3. Calls still drop when handovers happen and right now as I type I have 'Emergency Calls Only' showing on my LG Viewty... so not that great as a communications device. Happily I have alternatives and my 3 phone is no longer mission critical and I can put up with the less than perfect service at the price. 3 can be a bargain but it depends on needs and as ever the fact is that Hutchison are a shrewd business and they get what the market can provide for the quality of service they are able to deliver. |

What do you mean by dropped calls on handovers?
The only places i have problems with 3 [and my previous network orange] is in basements in multi floor buildings. At home, i have had one dropped call in 3 months, that was speaking to someone using an handsfree kit in the car, so maybe not even be my network that droppep the call anyway. Wavejock, i understand what your saying, but Scotland seems to be a particular problem and if your service was really that bad, you would not put up with it, however cheap. Only a mug would put up with that and risk losing important calls. Behave ! |
