Would this be ok wired into my router downstairs, when my only pc is upstairs connected to the internet/network via a wireless adapter?

For music, yes. For video possibly not.
The bottleneck is how quickly your wireless network connection can move data from the PC to the media streamer. No wireless network runs at the speeds advertised. Copper cable is still the best solution. Put in an Ethernet connection from the router to the PC upstairs and you see a dramatic improvement in download speeds. Regards |
