Lost last semblance of interest since hearing Leona Lewis (the most manufactured record company puppet possibly EVER!) seems to be univerally praised and is up for 4 - yes 4! awards - after releasing one single and one album that was written for her, A&r'd for her, hyped up for her - etc, by messrs Cowell and Davies.

Purleeeeeese - this is just a record company cash cow (The Brits - not Leona) - not to be taken seriously IMO.”

I agree with you.
I believe that Leona is a very good singer, and I don't want to take that away from her. She's probably a really nice person for all I know too.
But basically all she is, is another knob on the producer's mixing desk.

She's just a puppet. Where's the creativity? Where's the soul? She's just there to serve her masters as a singing puppet.

'But she's an amaaazing singer who can sing perfect notes'
Yes, I can press this key on my keyboard and get a pitch perfect C#, but I still need to create something from it and construct music.

She's just another tool available on the mixing desk to the producer creating the songs. Twiddle a knob a little to the right for more Leona warbling, turn the knob a little to the left for less Leona warbling.

That's it. That's all she is.

It's like worshipping and celebrating an inanimate musical instrument for their talent and musical creativity instead of the actual musician who writes the songs and plays that instrument.

Awards mean something as long as there is a fair and proper selection process. But I'd agree with the rest. You want your music to be listened to - I've heard John Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls lead singer) say he'd rather play in front of a full room of any size than one that isn't full, for example. And that when they weren't as recognised they deliberately played "Name" as their last track at concerts to stop people walking out! (Name being the song that gave them the initial breakthrough, about 3 1/2 years before Iris's release.)

Last year Russell Brand was so annoying (crass remarks and jokes) that I switched off after 1/2 an hour. Ozzy and Sharon should be better but I'll be out watching Lyon v Man Utd instead. I reckon the award winners won't cause too much upset personally, but some of the nominees/non-nominees have.

And if Kate Nash wins a Brit... I'd rather see Liverpool win the league than that happening.

How can anyone think she is Britains best female. She can't sing for sh!t and can't write decent music either.

Sitting watching this with my better half, both commented that it's amazing how "Brit Academy pupils" keep beating frankly, better artists.

My school award ceremony was never televised.. I had a perfect attendance award too, damn it!

Agreed. The only good thing about Kate Nash getting it was the fact she isn't Leona Lewis.

Kate Nash and Leona Lewis should be thrown in a pit and made to fight to the death.

The prize for the winner? Execution!

That said, I think it's just accepted now that the Brits are a joke.

No, she is always like that. She has no rhythm, no stage presence.

I think that the Belle & Sebastian 'Best Newcomer' fiasco - followed by the contrived consolation award to Steps the following year - finally extinguished any remaining interest I had.

Yes, twice.

She is not a great stage performer, she has a great backing band which carries her.

I saw her last March backed only by one guy on an acoustic guitar and she was utterly spellbinding.

Well of course Kate Nash won! She went to the Brits school Im absoloutley disgusted by the bias shown! How many times did they namecheck the place? I thought it was a music awards ceremony not a night out for a bunch of stage school brats.

Good on the Arctic Monokeys for taking the piss out of the whole farce.

most of the females that were up went to the Brit school Amy Winehouse, Kate Nash, Leona Lewis, Katie Melua all went im sure they was more that went as well. So I cant see her going to the Brits school had anything in it for her to win.
