The Brit awards have been a joke for a long while - but never to the horiffic depths of tonight.

Mark Ronson - best British male?? Amy Whinehouse??? Kate Nash???

It is actually an insult to proper bands like the Foo Fighters to win an award - they should have refused it.

Sorry, don't believe you, she can't perform in public without being totally off her head. She needs alcohol to cure her stage fright.

I saw her last at the IOW festival and she was awful.

Mark 'Jive Bunny' Ronson won best male? What a joke!

Ah well, I don't take the Brits seriously anyway. I often wonder why the media treats it like the Oscars, Superbowl and FA Cup Final all rolled into one. Radio 1 won't go 5 minutes tomorrow without some reference to how it is the greatest thing ever.

From this moment on I shall be stealing your 'Jive Bunny' nickname! Insulting and apt at the same time, awesome.

What he did to 'Stop me' by the Smiths is worthy of execution - not an award.

It had everything to do with it. The awards now seems to be one big pat on the back for the Brits School.

not really coz if it was about the brit school why didnt leona get it as she was the one who had the highest selling single/album and she was also from the Brits school and would have been a better AD for them.

That was the whole idea of the school, they don't just do music, they do all aspects of the performing arts. Acting , music, dance, production, lighting and stage craft.

You would be moaning it was a waste of money if the school didn't kick out successful pupils.

But the award wasn't for Best British Female Yodeller

When she starts singing and not wailing, I might be able to listen to her.

Personally I hope she does go to America and stops there. But they have enough banshees of their own.

Why would I lie
I can categorically state I saw her at last year's South by Southwest and she was brilliant and had the crowd eating out of her hand.

I honestly don't care about a load of stage school brats. Its a music awards ceremony. Those kids in the mosh pit were annoying as hell, whooping like hell for ex pupils, and then ignoring everyone else.

Disgusting, disgraceful, unbelievable, staggering, shocking, pathetic, laughable.

They're just some of the words I can use to describe Kate Nash being even NOMINATED for a Brit.

We all know her failings but the fact that we now have this country's most recognised music awards giving this pile of rubbish an award really sinks us to the lowest of lows.

Otherwise I'm not going to argue with the others, even Kanye cos I expected him to win his award. And I'm pleased Shine won best single even though I wanted Leona to do it. Surprised she hasn't won something TBH.

Sorry for doing a rant like this but I'm only being truthful.

Fact : The only reason the Brits exists is to boost album sales.. this time of the year, post Christmas is the lowest sales point of the year, The Brits & its promotion gives the industry a little spike.

Mark Ronson is not an artist, and should not have been nominated.

My views about the 2006 X Factor Result exactly....

(And 2007 for that matter.... )

Kate Nash - face it - she's sold a lot of albums off the back of these two lines;

"you said I must eat so many lemons because I am so bitter, yeah I'd rather be with your friends mate because they are much fitter".

Love the way Adele has a brash cockney accent when she's singing, making it even easier to call her Amy Winehouse Lite, actually, maybe that should be Amy Winehouse Full Fat..

Problem is it's all about money nowadays.

BTW I don't know if he wants an album, but there is a chap called Jake Sansom (www.myspace.com/chesterbusker) who was busking in Chester on Saturday and did a brilliant acoustic version of Hoosiers - Worried about Ray. He could be one to look out for this year if he does decide to go on air.

One thing I forgot to say - I would have put You Know I'm No Good up for British Single. It sounds awesome. And the line "Sweet reunion Jamaica and Spain" makes you think of relaxing somewhere on a beach with a cocktail.

Confused as to why Kylie won best international female artist, over the last year she's had one no.4 uk single and album? Hardly setting the world on fire there.

There was not much of a choice in that category.

I think Rihanna should have won, really, regardless of whether some people like her or not. Kylie was pretty much the sympathy vote, but I'm not too bothered, seeing as she was one of the few classiest presenters out there tonight.

You know your music awards are shit when Kylie is nominated and wins. The woman can't sing for toffee and is an embarrassment to real musicians & singers who actually have some talent.

I wouldn't put her down that much, but the fact is Rhianna has had multiple big hits and that enormous #1 in umbrella.

Kylie had one minor hit and a flop album.

It don't make sense

Almost all the big award ceremonies are a joke.

American ones are far worse, though, but British ones are close to that drizzle.
